A really good psychological thriller.
Just a question.
[Show spoiler]So, was it really a magic or not?
Warning! Do NOT read if you haven't seen the movie!!!

[Show spoiler]No magic.

But there are 2 instances where you think the doll is possessed.

1 - there is a point in the movie when the doll is in the background and it's eyes blink closed only...this could be attributed to his eye lashes falling down. Fatz was on the couch at the time in the cabin.

2 - At the end when Fatz stabs the husband, it's actually Corky directing Fatz who is hidden behind the long drapes. At the end of the murder scene, Corky appears kinda sweaty and breathing heavily.

I kinda like to think Fatz was really possessed, but in the end, it's all the delusions of Corky, played expertly to a T by Anthony Hopkins.

Warning! Do NOT read if you haven't seen the movie!!!

How am I supposed to even know what movie it is other than the obvious fact of going back and looking?

I've changed my rankings of them in the past a few times (and may do so again in the future), but currently:

Toy Story 3 - 5/5

Toy Story - 5/5

Toy Story 2 4.5/5

[HUGE GAP]

A Bug's Life 4.25/5

The Incredibles - 4/5

Cars - 3.75

Up - 3.5/5

Wall-E - 3.5/5

Finding Nemo - ≤ 3/5*

Monsters Inc - ≤ 2.5/5*

Ratatouille - ?/5 (I didn't even sit through the whole thing)

*Can't think of a definite score off the top of my head for these two.

You have no heart or soul

Seemed promising at first; the photography is definitely beautiful, and I can easily see the correlation between the peaceful natural world and the harsh brutality of war. “Avatar” can eat its heart out. Aside from that, the use of voiceovers makes this a rather poetic film, which is rather surprising. Music was rather moving too.

But as it went on (for nearly three hours), I found it rather dull. None of the characters really stood out for me (even though the flashbacks were pleasant and the voiceovers added some interesting introspect, I don’t think I ever got to know the characters sufficiently to appreciate them). The battle scenes are interesting at times, but once again nothing really stood out to me. The plot is straightforward, but also very long, and not quite as fast-paced as I hoped for.

Fundamentally, it actually reminds me a bit of "Valhalla Rising."

I may have to give this another viewing to fully appreciate. But for now…

3.5/5 (entertainment: 3/5, story: 2/5, film: 5/5)
One of the main intentions and points of the film, and all of Malick's films, is that the characters are to remain distant. In regards to this film, it was of such great importance to Malick because he wanted to convey the pointlessness of war and that it could be any of us there. Characterization would greatly alter and essentially destroy the themes he intended to convey.

You took out Everlasting Moments, one of the gems of the Criterion collection and arguably the best example on blu of how a film was supposed to look, to watch Zombieland???

Yeah this is probably dead on

Extremely low, Monsters Inc isn't the best Pixar film, but it's probably the most fun and inventive one out of the lot.

Definitely Pixar's weakest, not unwatchable, but just fails according to what Pixar usually delivers.
We need numbers

x/5!
...or 4 if you are strange like Jhiggy

We actually agree on 3/7 more or less

Toy Story 3 is a must see and Incredibles is a recommended see imo.

I only saw it for the first time a few months ago.

It plays on Disney/ABC Family sometimes if you have a DVR you can record it.

You're right. I have no doubt I'll really like Despicable Me. I didn't think it was going to be much judging by the trailer I saw before Avatar, but the new one they had playing before Toy Story 3 made it look a lot better. After it came out to good reviews from both the critics and the public, a blind buy decision was pretty easy.

Yeah, but I still don't think his catchphrase being edited is enough to hate the movie. I understand some people being disappointed, but it was still the best Die Hard since the first one in my opinion with or without it in full. Like I said, it's not even used that much in the movie. I just finish it for him when I hear it in the movie.

Yea, that trailer before Avatar way back when wasn't impressive, the newer trailers made it look better, but the movie itself was definitely better than I anticipated. It's better than Inception

Make the movie interactive

That idiotic logic was detracting from the movie, I agree. But, it's a drop in the bucket. The rest of the movie is hilarious/great fun

Harrelson utterly dominates this movie. I love the epic cross country Twinkie Hunt. Especially
[Show spoiler]when the kid shoots the twinkies ....but then he still gets one!

Ratatouille is a type of cartoon that you either dont like or you like it more than anything you have ever seen.
thats why some people give it 1/5 while others make it their all time favorite animation, like me.

That explains it! I'll have to see if I get an urge to rewatch it with a different set of expectations.

Josh nailed it. And yes, definitely give this one another shot; it's an incredible film. I just saw this recently for the first time. I generally never watch my favorite films more than twice a year, but with this one, I almost pushed play again right after it ended

Double Wow.

I thought Ratatouille was one of their best - if not in story then at least in visuals.

for whatever reason, i am in no mood to watch something new. hell, even the last few days i've just been all "eh..." when it comes to something i haven't seen.

i was just at the local rental shop down the block and had about 8 films in hand, all of which i had never seen, all of which are well liked generally and praised highly. and one by one i put them back. i just didn't care to see them.

i literally have no ambition right now to watch something new. if someone were to ask, "hey, you want to watch __________ right now?" (insert any movie i haven't seen) i would say no. but if that same person were to ask, "hey you want to watch _________ right now?" (insert any movie that i've seen before and given at least a 3.5/5 to) and i would say yes.

and even though i should look at it as i'm 'missing out' on something, i don't.
must just be one of those weird days i guess.

anyway, watching Fantastic Mr. Fox
probably my favorite non-Pixar animated movie. love the humor, the incredible detail in all of the foxes and even though i'm not a huge of Wes Anderson, i still loved the writing and story here.

i remember when i blind bought this in March i watched it twice in a day. that rarely happens. hooked from start to finish.

and i can't forget to mention the fantastic music
all of it's great. superb. great stuff. highly recommended.

4.5/5

It's Malick, so don't worry...unless you're very familiar with his four films and his life, it's difficult to truly understand what his purpose is in his films. The fact that you have a desire to rewatch it with new expectations is great though. I love getting a new perspective on films and re-watching them.....

......with the exception of the ridiculous Prestige theory that was proffered here. I'm still growing back the brain cells I lost.
