The author of this article is drawing poor conclusions:

According to Video Business, actual numbers of standalone Blu-ray Disc units may be around 700,000, as there were 2 million PlayStation 3 consoles sold through October.

The original Video Business article indicated 2.7 Million players sold as of Nov 24th, not through October.

So this new article basically ignores all the PS3 sales in November, which should be substantial.

Pretty bad analysis.
