Only way I could see a compromise is if the BDA gives Toshiba some sort of revenue share. I could then see Toshiba releasing a combo player for a few years to support current HD DVD owners' libraries.

I'm oversimplifying a bit. My point is, instead of focusing on the technical aspects of a compromise (which is basically impossible at this point), it's still entirely possible for a financial compromise. I'm a CFO, see this happen all the time.
