Amazon just sent me a notice saying that they've overnight FedEx-ed my copy out, literally, about 15 minutes ago. With any luck, will be spinning this baby by tomorrow.

They were advertising it on the Fox NFL countdown show yesterday, I guess Fox is using as many of its outlets as it can to promote this movie.

last year fox had the exclusive 3 minute trailer for Avatar during one of its halftime shows while the nfl was on

that was the 1st time i ever heard/saw anything about Avatar

The box and BD book case look nice but, what is the point of the slip cover? Seems a bit pointless to have the case, box the case slides into and then a slip cover as well. Does the box have the title on the spine so that I can throw out the slip cover?

Don't get me wrong, the overall packaging looks really nice but, the slip cover just seems like a waste and one extra thing to remove before you can get to the disc. I know most people love slip covers but it just fills like overkill for this release.

The case is actually about as high as a digibook but only as deep as a regular Blu-ray.

I had trouble getting my copy to load. I had to disconnect from the internet and delete the data file, then it worked. I have to say I love the packaging and can't wait to watch the 3 hour long cut.

woohooo! just got mine right now! sweet packaging too. nice snuggly fitting slip over the hardbound package. disc holders are pretty sweet too cuz the discs dont rock n move around at all. although i noticed info on back of the slip is just a sticker n not actually printed. but great package kudos to FOX!

So wait, based on the pictures, the discs themselves are housed in a digibook format like the Aliens Anthology with a sturdy outer case that holds everything...and then there's a slipcover?

That seems rather pointless.

the book has 3 'pages' as you can see from the pics inside of my quoted text (spoiler)

there is a regular outer slip cover, then a hard inside slip cover that the packaging slides out from (to the side)

each page is like a regular book where it turns (it doesnt open into a 3 page pamphlet)

in between the pages are the discs and they 'slide out' inside of a leaf.

the pages are pretty thick, they dont bend at all.

great setup if you ask me.

Switching out one of my 1 disc DVD cases for my sister's 3 disc DVD case and going to use that to house my discs until I get another 3 disc case to use for Avatar.

Oh how I wish I could purchase this tomorrow. However, if I did I'm pretty sure my fiancee would not approve since it's one of the things she's been looking forward to getting me for my birthday.
