Default 1 Million PS3 Shipped causes Playfuls.com to have a tanty

"Playfuls's Dan Nicolae Alexa is outraged that Sony have been telling 'lies' to us all for ages concerning the PS3. But whether they've shipped 1 million units in the US to stores, as opposed to selling them to customers, the PS3's success is assured, just like Vista's, even if it still hasn't shipped in Europe or Australia."

Full Article: http://www.itwire.com.au/content/view/8455/52/

One very interesting point I found in the article is this, "But it really can't be forgotten that the PS2 outsold the Xbox 360, the PS3 and the Wii put together (in 2006)."

It's ridiculous to see how biased a news reporting website can become during a format war such as this.

From the Playfuls.com article concerning PS3 delays, "As if all these lies weren’t enough" I wouldn't call Sony liars. I WOULD call Sony liars if they said that they would have 1 Million PS3's before Christmas and then only had 500,000. Every previous estimate\announcement of time and numbers was corrected at least a couple of months before the expected date.

^^ Great article.

Bottom line, why are people upset at Sony for being late or under predictions? How does that affect them in any way? Did they ruin their kid's Xmas? Did they lose a bet?

They simply want people to hate Sony, and hate the PS/3. In other words, they don't give a damn about the issues themselves, except how to use them as ammunition against their enemy.

Obvious from an Xbox fanboy. But, for others it is damn suspicious.

Only a few days ago I was reading another Playfuls.com article bashing Blu-Ray or Sony. Never looked at their site personally don't think I ever would after seeing this article. Sounds like a child having a whinge that things aren't going his way.

I asked the very same question elsewhere. FFS, those few who were most "sincerely" upset were obviously not even going to buy anything remotely Sony, even if they didn't have something to be "upset" about.

An intereresting democgraphic is that there are a many sincere PS2 owners that don't like the inclusion of the blu-ray player, either based on an idea that they will never use it and just don't want to pay the extra $175.00 for it or don't know they would like it if they tried it.

Nevertheless, they are still upset. But Microsoft tries to turn this into a negative as proof that "People *DON'T WANT* the PS3."

Which in fact the opposite is true. They are disgrunted that they have to pay the extra money for the PS3, not beacuse they don't want the PS3. It's because they DO!

Sure, M$ might be able to woo some customers over to the 360. But it's like that frumpy girl that you didn't want to take to the homecoming. You'll settle for now...grumble, grumble...but you really wanted to take Suzy hotpants!

What were PS/1 owners saying about the introduction price of the PS/2?

I see three factors:

- King of the mountain/nouveau riche syndrome. This happened with laserdisc, and you see it with DVD. People with big collections and expensive players that they always brag about, are now second fiddle to people who got the new gen. How dare they challenge my reign these peasants with a little money.

- Worried about the quality or number of games as effort is redirected toward the next gen while they can only afford the current gen.

- People who bought into the PS/2 well below the introduction price who have sticker shock at the new price. The BD drive is an easy target. As you say, they are angry because they are so desperate to have a PS/3.

King of the mountain syndrom: 360 owners that have had NO competing nexgten console in the market other than the one they own.

"HEY! Over here! Stop paying attention to that shiny PS3!"

I see the upcoming PS3 launch for other teritorries (Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, Australia and New Zealand) to be a blast.

The guarantee for 5-6 million in fiscal sales for fiscal year 2006.
