I was looking at the CES speakers and other important dates and didn't see Warner taking up any time to come out with a big announcement. Will they simply announce it at their booth?

I think Warner won't be going exclusive until after the holiday season mainly because Harry Potter was just released on HD-DVD. They probably don't want to hurt their sales on HD-DVD by announcing their exclusivity to Blu-ray. I have a gut feeling they won't be going HD-DVD exclusive at all. I expect they will go exclusive around CES next year but I'm not too sure. I hope they do announce it as soon as possible though because the longer they take the longer this format war will last. I'm just ready for it to be overrrrr!!

enough is enough is enough with the troll talk. this is about wb and blu-ray exclusivity, not who acussing newbies of trolling. its only natural for new guys to ask questions (as long as they aren't about black bars, lord of the rings, star wars, or the matrix).

No real doubt about it. If WB does not go Blu-exclusive, the entire HDM industry (disc-wise) will fail sooner or later. I think the end is closer than i thought! Despite the support HD DVD does have, I feel Universal is not going to be able to maintain an HD DVD exclusive stance for long. The only other thing left is Paramount. It would be easy to end the war is WB brings Uni over with it.
But if it goes HD, than the support will be too confusing, to even, and consumers will not buy either! If it were to stay neutral, it would take too long for BD to win with its current lead, and consumers would stop buying eventually.
There is only one way out of this, Blu-ray!
I am hoping and wishing like crazy that Warner steps into the blu-light, and I think they probably will. But, if some weird bizzaro world upside-down land thing happens where they go HD DVD, I think I have already made the decision in the back of my mind that I would stop buying Blu altogether, and I certainly wouldn't stoop to buying HD DVD's. I think at that point I would know that things were falling apart, and I wouldn't want to waste any more money on HDM. Don't get me wrong, I'm a an ardent Bu-Ray fan and I have complete faith that things will go our way, but I think if things went the opposite of the way we are all expecting, it would all collapse slowly. Does anyone else feel this way?

Please Warner Brothers, Universal, and Paramount. Listen to reason! Join Blu-ray and we can end the pointless war, boost sales, and make everyone happy in the end!
Cpt, you once again are the voice of reason. And I think the execs at Warner know this as well. In the end, they want to make money, and HD DVD exclusivity I believe is not even on the boards. What's left is the decision to remain format neutral, or go Blu-exclusive. Quite frankly, I believe it is still very much up-in-the-air. I believe the BDA wants to be as tight-lipped about a deal as Warner does, so as not to ruin the deal in the wings, and "leaks" by heavy-hitters in the industry isn't really helping their cause. Here's a thought: the "rumors" being furthered could possibly be a tactic of HD DVD to make Warner reconsider leaving their neutral stance. Kind of a "what, you guys can't keep your mouthes shut? We're trying to do business here!" and the reply of "but it wasn't us that leaked it, we swear!". OK, not quite that simple, but worth a thought. I'm hoping that CES08 will follow with an announcement of some sort (BD exclusivity being the only real viable option) so that we can all put this point in Hi-def media's history behind us.

So becuase I ask questions that apperantly people don't want asked, I'm a troll? You guys treat all your new members like this? I came to this site to learn more about blu ray. I can't learn without asking questions. I don't own (spelling) one DUD movie. I'm not some secret red wannabe insider like some have called me, either.

Their are a few members on this site that have simply answered my questions with a normal response. As such would be expected. But for so many people to accuse me of talking crap and being a secret spy is bullsh!t. I'm simply concerned! I'm tired of people talking trash. I like this site. But this is crazy, people.

I'm sorry I don't have a thousand post yet. Geez.
Don't sweat it, it happens all the time here.

A quote from Revenge of the Sith comes to mind.

SIDIOUS: The end of the war is near, general.

GRIEVOUS: But the loss of Paramount?????

SIDIOUS: Their death was a necessary loss. I shall soon have a new exclusive studio...one far larger and more powerful.....

No, Spider, you are not alone. I don't know if I would quit buying Blu-ray titles over it (I mean, come on, better is better), but it would definitely put a nail in the coffin of the end of this war. And with that, mass adoption would never occur. I, like many others out here, will never buy HD DVD, as it is an inferior product to Blu-ray and don't want to be forced by the industry to settle for second best. I would just quit buying movies altogether and go back to watching them on HBO and Cinemax. This is, from what I've been reading on this forum and others, is the consensus of a great many consumers, and is why Warner's stance is so critical to both formats as the next media of choice for consumers.

Don't give me gold and then tell me copper is just as pretty and that I won't know the difference in the end...

Pretty soon it will pass the amazon thread, then the next step is passing the SA0CD thread on the same topic (but bogus). Then it will be the longest non-sticky thread. However, I think it has the highest attach rate (posts/view) of the large threads.
