In the first part of this last BOGO, I bought Gothika, Blood Diamond, Superman: The Movie, and Corpse Bride. I had already preordered the HP Gift set and the Bladerunner Ultimate set from the Wherehouse on that 30% off coupon, and then when the BOGO was changed, I ordered 300 and Monster House.

If I have enough left after calculating what the rest of my Christmas shopping is going to cost, I am going to order a couple more. Plus, a large amount of the Blu-Rays on my wish list for Christmas were WB titles and I am pretty sure I am going to get at least a couple of those. Since the entirety of my list was TV seasons on DVD and Blu-Ray movies, the majority of my presents are likely to bump up the numbers WB or otherwise.

So, I've done my part, and since I suspect we might see more BOGOs and deals between now and CES, I will definitely pick up more after I next get paid. I've been hoping to make a CES since the days when the VSDA was held at the same time period. Now I wish I could make it more than ever.

The rumor is his dad is a big time guy in Hollywood, somehow related to the Weinstein Company..

He's very worried about the state of HD DVD and he's urging supporters to buy... You read into it what you want to.

It is no doubt now or never. I agree with Penton-Man: buying WB in the next 3-4 weeks will be crucial.

You want to support our format...now is the time. Even a single disc counts!!

LOL big time! Thanks! That was a good one. Had me going till I scrolled down.
I just can't get over how exciting this point in HD time/history is right now. Serious? Yes, but with what we know is coming, we can have some serious fun here also. Again, Warner goes BD exclusive first quarter, Universal at least duel format in the latter half of 08. Have fun, enjoy and buy the crap out of Warner titles right now!

Would it not be awesome if we really did sway Warner by buying more of their movies than the red side in the next few weeks? Some say that they have already made the decision, whatever that may be, but if they have yet to make it, let's help them make it.

Hopefully this guy is just out of the loop in Australia.

SYDNEY: Warner Home Video Australia has denied a BusinessWeek report that its US parent could decide to support only one format, likely Blu-ray, dependent on sales for each this quarter - a switch that could have tipped the balance in the HD format war.

A switch would have seen Blu-ray capture nearly 70 per cent of the US market compared to its current 49 per cent share.

In an official statement, Warner Brothers Home Video Australia and New Zealand managing director Roger Clarke said, the company’s global position had not changed and they would continue to support both HD DVD and Blu-ray for the foreseeable future.

“Our position hasn’t changed and certainly any comments that were published in the US were not intended to suggest that we had changed our stance. We support both formats and we have not made any decision towards that policy and nor are any such announcements planned or in the pipeline,” he said.

“In terms of the short-term scenarios around the Q4 sales results, Warner Brothers are always reviewing our strategies and we can’t say what might happen in five or ten years, but for now, there’s been no decision made to change course.”

He said both formats would be supported, with big titles such as the upcoming new Batman film, The Dark Knight, due out in cinemas early next year, out on both formats by mid next year.

1. Get angry at Warner
2. Spend two days thinking, "what if it had gone the other way?"
3. Seek group support throught the 6 people left on the HD DVD forum
4. Tear down the old A2, wrap it up, and act like it's a Christmas present for
the kids.
5. Go out and buy your first $250 BR player (and at least feel good that
you didn't get one when they were $500). Hey, you're going need
somehting to make you feel better.
6. Call your friends and tell them, "Thanks for recommending HD DVD, you
suck".
7. Go buy all the movies you wanted that were not available on HD DVD.
8. Go out and buy a receiver that can take advantage of lossless sound.
9. Cancel all memberships to the HD DVD forum.
10. Take my friend out to lunch... I bet him lunch that Warner wouldn't go BR
only.
11. Start an anger management course for those that just couldn't get over
it.
12. Track down a BR fan (any one will do) and buy him a beer. Hey now we
can all be friends again.

Follow all of these steps, and all of us HD DVD fans will be freed of the HD DVD vs Blu Ray stress and will be able to get back to more productive things like arguing PS3 vs. Xbox 360....
hehehe, great one.

Sit back and relax everyone. The 800 pound gorilla in the room is fat, dumb and happy enough to ride this out until downloads are viable....5 to 10 years down the road.

I really do enjoy all of Penton's "blu's clues". Don't get me wrong, I'm still die hard BD. I just don't think anything is going to happen until late next year. If the big urgency to end this for profits sake was really on the table...all the Studios would be having a "sit down" and resolve this amicably. Those church bells just arent ringing. I'm fairly convinced WB will ride this out to the bitter end.

Sorry to be a party pooper.

But....still buying all the WB BD's I can afford just in case.

Your'e Not Manco. It's just your opinion. Whether I agree or not, I enjoy your posts regardless. Warner goes BD in 08 fist quarter, Universal becomes at least Duel format in the latter half of 08.

Believe me. I want this shit over as much as anyone. But when you live in LA and drive by the WB lot on a daily basis....you can just stick your nose out the window and get a whif. Unfortunately, it's still got the same old HD-DVD stank. Ad that's pretty much the sentiment of my friends behind the iron gates. Wish I could report better. I hope Penton and Max prove me wrong.....REALLY WRONG!!

My personal opinion is that the most important title for people on this forum to make a special effort to buy and to get the word out to PS3 owners about is Blade Runner (releasing 12/18). There are a couple of main reasons I say that. The latest Harry Potter movie is day-and-date, so sales will be big anyway. Buying it to help the format is good, but the percentage difference from a few extra sales is unlikely to be as big as for a catalog title like Blade Runner. And if Blade Runner shows up in the top 10 the week it comes out then we could see the ratio for it.

Just using some off-the-wall numbers, let's say that the latest Harry Potter was going to do 100k and 60k for a ratio of 1.67:1 and by getting the word out an extra 2k sales would happen for Blu-ray. The ratio would go to 1.7:1. But for Blade Runner I'll pick 10k and 6k, for 1.67:1 again. Now if we could get 1000 extra sales that ratio would go to 1.83:1. And depending on sales, an extra 1000 could put it over the 2:1 ratio mark. The fact that there are 2 versions might keep both from getting into the top 10 on HMM, but either way I think that Blade Runner is a very important title. Even if HMM doesn't publish the numbers for it, Warner and others will see them.

Plus I think Blade Runner may be near and dear to Warner's hearts, given its classic status and the work that has gone into it. It might also represent the last push that PS3 owners (and others) have to make to basically end this war. I don't frequent PS3 owner only gaming boards, but I hope others will try to get the word out next week.
