Was the Smith kid in this movie as annoying as he's been in other movies? Almost curious to see the new one as I loved the originals.

Part III isn't that bad. There are some parts I absolutely love, stuff that has stuck with me most of my life, like the planting of the bonsai tree on the side of the cliff. Beautiful. It's a fun movie, and at times unintentionally humorous.

The Next Karate Kid on the other hand is a different thing. Yikes. But even that movie has it's moments.

I think the release of just parts 1 & 2 on Blu is secretly a strategy on behalf of Sony to try, as much as possible, to get future generations to forget there ever was a Part III...but this is one Karate Kid fan, who will not only refuse to forget, but will also not be purchasing any of the KK films on Blu, until 'III' comes with them...
i liked karate kid 3 because its a good story if u think of it as a champion becomes to full of himself so he thinks his ivincible but he gets beat up in revenge

Looks like the original film is back down to $9.99 for the first time since Amazon priced it too low (back when it was first released). Great price!

I grew up with the originals, and I saw the new one recently, and I liked it. I don't consider this new one to be a remake at all. When I was watching it, I saw it as a film that was made to honor the first two. I'm not a huge Jackie Chan fan, but I liked him and Jaden Smith in this one. Watching the new one did not ruin anything for me, and if anything, it makes me want to see the originals again and then watch the new one afterwards. I honestly didn't think I was going to like it at all, but I was pleasantly surprised with what they did.

It will be mine once the combo pack is $10, you're just going to have to wait. I probably feel the same way about the new Karate Kid that a lot of people felt about the new Star Wars films when they started coming out in 1999.

Wow!! I recently watched all of them and that one was easily the worst in the series. I even thought The Next Karate Kid was better than that one. I do have to admit the
[Show spoiler]sweep part with Danielson asking Miyagi to teach him the sweep
was funny as hell. Other than that terrible acting and very bad film. Got Em!!

Honestly all 4 of the Karate Kids have horrible acting, that's part of what makes them so memorable. They're examples of film-making(at least the first two are) because of the excellent production, direction and cinematography. Just very wooden acting and that's coming from probably one of the biggest fans of KK here on the forums.

The new one isn't as bad as you'd think. The kid in China serves the fish out of water premise a bit better than in the original when he just moved to a different state. The two things, IMO, that didn't work were the new version's take off on "wax on, wax off' and what I refer to as Chan's "Miyagi moment"., when you find out about his past and all.

I thought the acting by Miyagi was excellent in all films actually even that terrible 3rd film. Danielson was decent in the movies also. The 3rd film however when I mention bad acting I am referring to the bad guys both the teacher with the long pony tail and his student that he wants to fight Danielson. Just terrible. Got Em!!
