Default Sorry about this question (audio)

Im trying to totally understand the different audio options associated with Blu Ray. I know there have been loads of threads on this and I have read most of them but some do conflict with others. I run a PS3 and Im about to upgrade to the Denon 2808 (from a 2805). Ok if I quickly list how I understand the new audio formats and im sure someone with allot more knowledge will put me straight.

Bitstreaming as I understand is the ability for a player to output the raw audio data 1's and 0's which is then decoded by your amp. So the PS3 can only Bitstream DD and DTS? Now if the PS3 could Bitstream TrueHD, DTS-MA and PCM I could also run this across optical and have a compatible amp decode it?
As I understand the PS3 cant Bitstream the later 3 instead it internally decodes these and then sends them in analog form across HDMI. To me it sounds as thought the best option to transmit these signals would be in raw Bitstream form? Before I fork out a big sum of cash (on the 2808) can someone just clarify that the PS3 will send full PCM 7.1 True HD 7.1 DTS-MA 7.1 all be it across HDMI and does this have any draw backs? I have read a few reports that audio across HDMI has a reduced volume to the amp then optical?

I would be grateful if someone could just put me straight
