It was good to have a choice that was already in my collection.

So how could the movie be improved?

Lose raindrops?
Show more scenes with the gang?
Learn the perspective of other characters such as the chasing posse?
Show how the pair were perceived by the media and communities affected?
More characters?

All of the above except the last one. I liked that it was intamate with a small cast.

I think # 3 would have really really added to the film.

Agreed. I would add a tighter pacing.

Maybe a remake should be in order...

Now the film wasnt great by any means but it was very amusing and it did have some laugh out loud moments. I am starting to like Adam Sandler more and more and may have prejudged him to soon. He was good in the film. Chris Rock looked out of place and I dont like David Spade at all.

This was one of the better comedies of this past year but that isnt saying much. I was letdown numerous times this past year with films like Cop Out, Hot Tub Time Machine etc...and this film was certainly better than those named. All in all not a bad comedy at all and I would give this film a slight recommendation as it is enjoyable and has some nice funny moments.

Film Rating - 3 1/2 stars (out of 5)

PQ - 4 1/2 stars (out of 5)

AQ - 4 1/2 stars (out of 5)

And Soon the Darkness (2010) - Never seen the original so I couldnt compare the two films. Man I cant believe how skinny Odette is. She looked hot in The Unborn although it was a bad film. In this film she was to damn skinny for me. Amber Heard however looked very nice although I have to say Odette has a cuter face. As for the film it had its moments but there were times when I wanted to slam my head into a wall with some of the actions of the lead actresses. I know in a lot of horror/thriller films the leads sometimes do dumb things but man I can never get over it.

As the film went on and it had some nice suspenseful and tension build up it got better and also the decisions got better as well. I liked the climax and thought it ended very well so overall I was satisfied.

Film Rating - 3 1/2 stars (out of 5)

PQ - 4 1/2 stars (out of 5)

AQ - 4 1/2 stars (out of 5)

Devil - I already reviewed this film once and this was my 2nd viewing. I think I rated it 4 1/2 stars on my initial viewing. This time around I watched with a couple of distractions as I watched it at my cousins house. While I still enjoyed it its not the same with distractions as most of my fellow movie buffs here know. I was thinking of downgrading the film to just 4 stars but due to the environment of the 2nd viewing I will not change rating as it may have played a part in my experience.

Ticks - This is for u Nolfoc. Finally got around to watching my homie's favorite horror move Ticks aka Infested. Amy Dolenz was a cutiepie. This was a typical old achool b horror film involving insects/bugs etc....So if u are an old achool horro fan then Im sure u would like the film. I probably wouldve liked it more if I had seen it back when it came out. I still thought it was ok and the effects werent to bad also. It was cool seeing Alfonso Ribeiro playing someone outside of Carlton haha. All in all not bad but the fact that it was VHS quality downgraded my viewing experience. Again this is only recommended to real old school horror fans only.

Film Rating - 3 stars (out of 5)

Got Em!!
haha amen its about time!!! but my favorite horror movie is Carpenters Halloween followed by Carpenters The Thing.. but Ticks is a great B horror flick.. it didnt have an M. Night feel to it but it still held its own for what it was!

Just get through it, then sit on it for a month. Then watch it again. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

The more i think about the dialogue in "True Grit" the more i laugh and i wasn't bowled over the first i saw it either. Even die hard Coen fans like me have trouble getting it the first few times. Don't know what it is that usually clicks, but it usually always does.

Haha that was funny comparing it to M. Night lol. Like I said i think I wouldve liked it more if I had grew up on it or even seen it back when it was released. I like those kind of horror films though. I wished they wouldve had more Ticks though, like an abundance amount. That wouldve made it more creepier. Got Em!!

The Expendables

  • 2010 | R | 103 Minutes

  • Director: Sylvester Stallone

  • Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Terry Crews

  • Action | Adventure | Thriller

  • First Time Viewing

Things exploded. Guns were fired. The Big Three of the 80s where there. It. Was. Awesome!

If you are looking for an intricate plot...then you are watching the wrong movie. But if you are looking for a movie that is one hell of a good time then you are looking at the RIGHT movie.

And that is exactly what I wanted from this movie, a good time. I didn't expect the plot to be anything amazing, and it wasn't; it was appropriate for the film (Stallone and his mercenary crew are offered a job in South America and they have to get it done).

The acting was pretty good. They all shot their guns and delivered their cheesy jokes perfectly
All the stars worked really well together, especially Statham (who just has an aura of "I'll beat the **** out of you..." around him) and Stallone.

The much talked about scene with Ahnuld, Sly and Willis was short but good, especially the in-jokes about each other

In case you can't tell...this movie is FUN. And that is exactly what Stallone wanted it to be and attempted to make; in my opinion he very much succeeded and I'm in for a sequel

Holy crap, we agree on this movie.

I think one of my favorite lines was when
[Show spoiler]Jason Statham went and beat up the guys at the basketball court. After he beat the boyfriend up, he stuck his knife in the basketball and said "Next time, I'll deflate all your balls, friend."

The AQ is excellent, but you already knew that.

Too bad you didn't like it. I can see a lot of people being very about Black Narcissus due to its telltale 1940's traits, but I was really pleased with how it felt like a classic film with contemporary sensibilities.

Surfdude hit the nail on the head about the pivotal scene, but then provided examples of negative environments. It becomes more interesting when the environment is treated as positive or neutral (like in the film).

The people are like mountain peasants everywhere, simple, independent. They work because they must. They smile when they feel like it . . . The men are men. No better and no worse than anywhere else. The women are women. The children, children.

Once one accepts the concept of equality among mankind, the proposition of thrusting personal belief onto a foreign environment becomes somewhat repulsive. This is what provides the very serious, yet satirical, undercurrent of anti-imperialism in the film. Very well done I thought.

I very much enjoyed this film. The line that stuck with me was
[Show spoiler]when the nun declared she did not know what to do about a situation, and Mr. Dean replied, "What would Christ do?"
Very powerful.
