Going to go with the consensus here.

If it's not on Blu, I haven't been buying it -- unless of course it's some obscure Anime that my fiance wants on DVD. If it's a title for myself, then I simply will wait until it's on Blu.

Universal for the moment is dead to me as they haven't released a 'must have' movie for me in quite a while on DVD or in the Theater. Besides, all the Universal movies that are must haves -- I already have on DVD. If they do release something that I must watch -- I'll rent it on DVD.

Paramount is the same thing, as the only must haves (Star Trek or Hunt for Red October) I own again on DVD. But the same with Universal, they haven't released a must have movie for me in quite a while.

I'm looking past this format war, and actually will cautiously approach anything Universal releases on Blu for at least the first year. I have a feeling anything released on Blu by them will be the horrible VC-1 ports they've been tossing out for HD-DVD lately. Unless the reviews are high quality with high bitrate AVC encodes with TrueHD or PCM, count me out.

Paramount I'll approach cautiously as well, but I think they have some AVC encodes optimized for Blu sitting in the vault. We'll see, but I think they are more likely to release quality long before Universal finally gets fully on board the boat.
