cool, I didn't know that. Still liked it more on Showtime. Awesome the movies are coming out in March and June. I am so looking forward to that.

Default Angel on TNT basically sucks...

I'm catching the Angel series reruns on TNT right now in HD. Superior to DVD upconverting, by far.
Gotta differ with ou on that. My upconverted DVD isn't quite as nice as the resolution on TNT, it's true, but it's not far off - attesting to how CRAPPY of a job was done on those and most other "HD" broadcasts on TNT (don't even get me started on how UNREADY for Blu-ray the TNT version of LOTR is). And am I the *only* one whose noticed that the TNT "HD" version of Angel is a stretched 4:3 version and not the 16:9 HD broadcast version? I just comped my 16:9 DVD image to the image HD TiVo'ed off of TNT for the final episode (so it's not an early season/late season issue) to reconfirm I'm not nuts.
Seriously, am I the only one horribly disturbed by the stretched heads when watching the TNT braodcast?

I don't watch any HD channel that takes a 4:3 chop job of a widescreen show and then restrecthes it to fill the screen.

Actually, it happens a lot more frequently than you might think.
It's just particularly annoying in the case of Angel because the last three seasons WERE shot 16:9 HD.

Are you sure it was just the last three seasons. I can't say whether season 2 was shot in HD but I know the DVD's are 16:9.

Fox has been told by a great many people, and know very well by the raw sales figures alone how much people want Firefly

I'll be shocked if it's not out in the next 12 months, unless Serenity 2 is announced in that space of time (possible now apparently,as a DTV/Digital projection project)

I don't understand why they can't just broadcast from the DVD's instead of continuing to use inferior source material for their broadcasts. This is why I am mostly done with cable for now. Until they are up to par, I'm not interested.

Default firefly

Since I already have Buffy and Firefly on SD-DVD, I would get Angel on Blu.

My favorite Joss work to date is Firefly, then Buffy. I would definetly get Firefly on Blu. It's a shame that Firefly got a crappy time slot and was aired out of order.

"Time for some thrilling heroics."
