In reading the March 11, 2011 interview with the Sony Restoration boss (re. Taxi Driver), there are additional challenges to overcome (he was not specific) when movies originally filmed at 65-mm. are transferred/scanned, and it is better that they be scanned at 8k resolution as opposed to 4k. He cited Lawrence of Arabia as a case in point. Based on this assertion, I can appreciate where he is coming from, particularly when it comes to such high-resolution movies like Ben-Hur (which was filmed in MGM Camera 65). On that basis, I'm willing to be patient and wait to let the restoration technicians do their job and not turn out an inferior product that everyone will complain about. Listen to the tekkies, be patient, and let them do their job! I think we will be glad in the long run that we did.

It's worth the wait to get something that is the benchmark for the medium. Lawrence of Arabia and Ben-Hur cannot fail to disappoint.

So for Ben Hur, are we still talking this year or perhaps this gets pushed back again to some time in 2012?

Ben Hur date shouldnt have changed as that's Warner not Sony.... I'd say Sep-Nov 2011 is likely.
