Question Best PS3 Internal Hard Drive?

My question is: what is the best hard drive out currently to get to replace my internal one on my PS3? Any specific brands or speeds? Thoughts or Comments?

I have heard that the new Hard Drives with 7200 rpm don’t noticeably produce anymore heat than the Hard Drives that come with the PS3 originally and don't noticeably speed things up as far as Downloading and Ripping. www.ps3fanboy.com

Just curious due to the fact that I have to return my PS3 to buyer for a new one due to the lens blowing out on me... "DAMN YOU GAMING GODS!" ... so if I have to re-download everything I figured I would do it on a bigger Hard Drive and save me some grief.

Do you really have to re-download everything again?

Can't you just copy everything off your current PS3 drive to your PC then transfer it over too the new drive?

Thumb drive?

I would pick up one of those USB external drive enclosures for $20.00. Remove the PS3 drive, put it in the enclosure, transfer everything to my PC. Then install the new drive in the enclosure and transfer everything back to the new drive and install that in the PS3, Done!

Or if you have to use a thumb drive pick up a new 4GB one. I just got one for $20.00

I have to second that.

I second this recommendation. I got this drive by buying the Western Digital Passport drive and cracking the glossy black enclosure open to reach the drive. Buying this "portable" drive is cheaper than buying the actual internal 250GB drive. Plus if you keep the case you can put your old PS3 drive into it and make it into a 60gb external.

So the drive in that external fits into the PS3?

Brilliant!!
