I haven't seen the movie yet and I am excited for it and hope it is nothing like a Daredevil movie as referred to earlier. I would agree with your summation that Thor as a hero is a grade above most others, but does this movie portray him as being powerful enough to do the things described above or do they kind of nerf him to make him fit into the upcoming Avengers movie better?

I really liked this movie, granted that i'm kind of a fan for most Marvel movies and this one is no exception!
It was actually better than i expected...

I disagree. I love Superhero movies, mostly because I grew up reading comics. This one was different enough to set it apart from others. It's not really getting silly either, what with the vast amounts of book adaptions and remakes we get every year. At least superhero movies, for the most part, are consistently entertaining, if not great.

Thor is a half star rating behind the first Iron Man film, which is the best Marvel film to date.

Thor is this year's Iron Man. The movie is great fun, having a good balance between fantasy and reality. Kenneth Branagh did a great job of making Thor and Asgard believable and relate-able to reality. This film is another great Marvel stepping stone toward the Avengers. This movie will be another additional to my blu collection.

Hope Captain America will do as well, I would love to own all of the pieces that build up to the Avengers.

There were a good mix of humor and action and Thor is just "earth shattering". Great summer movie that doesn't have to be dark to be good. Hope DC/Warner take a note from Marvel and make their Superman just as powerful and as interesting.

Some of what I like about the Thor movie:
[Show spoiler]
- The typical Stan Lee cameo
- Clint Barton's cameo
- Nick Fury's cameo (after credits)
- Thor's use of the hammer. Very much like in the comics (hammer throw, hammer spin, flying with the hammer)
- Thor being run over by Jane Foster (twice)
- Thor going into a pet shop demanding a horse and then settled for any animal that he can ride
- The grandeur of Asgard (Lord of the Rings have nothing on Thor)
- Odin kicking ass
- Thor vs. Loki and Thor pinning Loki down with Mjolnir after he defeated Loki

I saw the movie in 3D. I will definitely try to find it on IMAX. Want to see how much better on a huge screen.

4/5

It was solid, but it never really built up to anything. Natalie Portman and especially Stellan Skarsgard were barely used.

I like Chris in the roll and Tom Hiddleston could have easily been cheesy but wasn't. So I look forward to them in Avengers.

The comedy was pretty good, my audience ate it up but overall excitement wasn't even a drop compared to Fast Five last week.

Not having been familiar with the story proved to be a blessing for me. For a fleeting moment
[Show spoiler]I thought Odin had a fling with a female frost giant and considered the physical difficulties of such a task. Until the actual story came out, it was a very enjoyable aspect to loki

Well I knew he was in that quick shot of him pointing his bow at a distance, but not
[Show spoiler]that he had lines and actual face time. I figured they got someone to play him at a distance, but wouldn't get Renner.

Lol. Ok, it was awesome then. I definitely liked the line
[Show spoiler]about almost rooting for Thor
. I had no idea he was in it since I stayed away from reading much, but it was nice to see and it shows that
[Show spoiler]Jeremy Renner should be pretty good as Hawkeye in The Avengers.
