I totally agree with that last sentence. I was into the show for the first four eps, but got tired of waiting and lost interest. Then, I figured it would never go anywhere and we'd never get answers and it would end up like Lost.

The only ABC show I watched was Detroit 1-8-7 and it just got cancelled. Oh well. I bet they don't cancel Dancing With the Stars.

That's sad about Detroit 1-8-7. But, I guess that studio networks are dumping shows that are even perceived as losers for favored reality shows. I stopped watching broadcast TV a long time ago because studios are ending TV shows and reoplacing them with unscripted TV shows.

Even soap operas are being canceled and getting replaced with reality TV shows. It's a shame that these networks still don't realize that they are going to start hemmoraging viewers because there are a lot of American viewers who hate reality TV and I'm one of them. This is why I wait until a show is released to DVD before watching it ...

There are a very few TV shows I watch these days and those I just wait until they appear on "Comcast on Demand". Blue Bloods, NCIS, The Event, The Good Wife are the only shows that I currently watch. The only reality shows that I have been watching are "Pit Bulls and Parolees", "Downsized", "Swamp Loggers", "Ax Men" and "Ice Road Truckers".

The only reason I watch those Reality TV shows is that they offer something more interesting than the drama of Survivors, Big Brother and the rest of those moron RTV shows.

I bought it when it was first released on DVD and I had to have it when I purchased my new HDTV and my Blu-ray player, on the same day.

I just finished disc 1. I really like this series. The main difference between this and Battlestar Galactica is that it won't take me a month to watch the whole series of Firefly

As with BG, one of the best blind buy TV Series that I picked up!!

Silo5, you'll see, it come even better near the end!

Then, you'll watch the movie Serenity and at the very end of it, you'll be asking for more but it's over...

I have to buy the graphic novels to get more stories.

After Firefly/Serenity you move on to Dollhouse (Also by Joss Whedon), and then its BSG time for some more Sci-fi

I just finished reading My Own Kind of Freedom which, while not officially sanctioned, is an excellent way to revisit the 'verse and all those characters.

If you haven't heard of My Own Kind of Freedom, here's what the Firefly wikia has to say on it:

Quote:
My Own Kind of Freedom: A Firefly Novel is a novel written by established fantasy novelist Steven Brust "on spec". It was originally proposed as an official Firefly novel to be licensed by Universal Pictures, but it was rejected. In 2008 it was instead published by Brust on the internet under a Creative Commons license as fan fiction.
Brust completely nailed the tone of Firefly and its characters. They all sound like themselves, the character relationships are spot on, and the story is definitely Firefly-esque.

It's mindboggling why it was rejected, but since there are no official novelizations set in the Firefly universe, I guess the powers that be have simply decided not to pursue that.

Anyway, it's set between the end of the TV series and before the movie, although it doesn't attempt describing any of the major happenings in between those two. It's entirely standalone.

So, if you're hankering for some more Firefly I can wholeheartedly recommend reading My Own Kind of Freedom. See the first link in this post for how to get your hands on it.

Question

I'm in the middle of rewatching the show on blu-ray, and it looks really good. But something with the audio bothers me. I noticed that some of the sounds and noises were exaggerated. I'm not talking about big sound effects but about the little noises, stage sounds like the steps of a character walking, or the rubbing of clothes, but not in a subtle way, I found it as loud as the dialogues at times.
It was most noticeable in "Out of gas", in the first flash back between Mal and Zoe for instance, or when River talks to Book and leaves.

I compared the scenes with my old dvd set and none of these noises/sound effects were present. Maybe it sounds different with a home cinema, I only use my tv's speakers. I'm guessing it's because of the new DTS track, they reworked the mix, but it really bothers me. It doesn't sound very professional, like the balance is wrong. I checked on a different tv, and on my computer, same thing.

Did anyone notice that before ?

Does this meen I wont be hit with any fees when it arrives at my door? Ive never purchased from Amazon US.
Items imported from outside the EU with a value of £18 or less are exempt from Import Duty and VAT. This figure drops to £15 from 1st November, so you better get your order in quick.

Been buying from overseas for many years and only been stung a few times by the Tax Man!

I've watched it a few times and never had that issue. I would say it's your TV speakers/sound processor struggling with downmixing the 5.1 into 2.0.

I find their "custom cover" kind of funny since they put the Blu-ray banner on top of the DVD cover.

Finally picked this up on bluray this past weekend. Great show. Once again the great braintrust in charge of network tv killed another show before its time.

Just blind bought it on DD, $18 after tax. I'm excited to watch it finally, and then watch Serenity again with a new perspective. Will it live up the the hype? We shall see....

Yesterday complete Firefly. Great series, too bad it get cancel after a season, such a waste.

The Film: 4.5 Star (minus 0.5 Star due to it stupidity talk in 99% non understandable Chinese, that is not Chinese, that is no language.)
PQ: 3.5 Star (A few scenes seems over grain than usual.)
AQ: 3.5 Star
