Well some on here are purists when it comes to their favorite films. I haven't seen Rob Zombie's remake, so I can't make an opinion on it. I know for me, most of the time I personally prefer the original as opposed to the remakes. I didn't like the Fog remake, simply due to the fact that they changed the story too much for my tastes. The same can be said for Halloween too. Some feel Zombie took a little liberty when explaining the backround of Meyers. Hell if someone tried to remake Close Encounters I might not want to see it, for the simple fact, that there was something magical about it when I first saw as a child. To each their own as they say. Just remember that there are die hard fans who love the originals.

Exactly. I didn't like how they tried to paint this picture of his childhood, where
you kind of felt sorry for him at times. For the most part, I didn't like the actors
chosen to play certain parts. The exception being Tyler Mane as Michael and
Danielle Harris as Annie. I am a purist when it comes to the original of this series,
and I just didn't like the direction RZ went.

There is a lack of financial backing at Weinstein but one can only hope they release they're titles this year with the BDA's help.

Halloween was always my favorite horror movie and I rushed out to buy the original on BD, but the remake was definitely an awesome movie. Maybe it's because I'm not from the 70's, but the new version is definitely scarier. And the only real difference in the first 40 minutes of backstory, which is interesting and makes him even scarier imo, because we was a creepy ass kid. The second act of the film is pretty damn close to the original, but with updated visuals to look less campy. I know that once I bought the original on BD, it was fun to watch, but I watched it at 2 am in the the dark, BY MYSELF, and I didn't have the slightest chill or anything. It was just kind of funny. At least the new one made me leave the tv on when I went to bed lol. The ending on the Unrated DVD is pretty haunting, to say the least, and I definitely prefer it.

I was waiting for the Blu release too, until I realized it was Weinstein haha. One of my last DVD purchases for sure though.

What I liked about the movie and I can see where they were going with it, was in the original halloween there was no real history that I can remember on how Michael Myers came to be who he was. I felt that the new remake took you right in on how he became to what he was.

Yes I know the original Halloween is out on Blu and I will be picking that up. also when this movie comes out it will be going in my collection.

IMHO Micheal Myers was so scary because there was nothing to know about him he was just a average kid in the burbs who one night for reasons never explained (im ignoring the dull thorn plot line they came up with later) murdered his sister then came years later and started stalking laurie because she was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

the unknow scares people more .
