All of the concert footage from Truth or Dare is from the same group of shows in Paris. Even though she says "Alright America" and whatknot throughout the show, that was all ADR. They were filmed (as were the Japanese shows, fyi, by none other than David Fincher).

Is that true did FINCHER film the concert footage? I always heard he was a first choice for dir. of the documentary but never knew about the concert footage used in Truth or Dare.

I have the old LaserDiscs of the tour from Japan and the one HBO aired live from Nice France. Japan featured the ponytail, Nice France HBO she did the blond curls.

yes, she got rid of the ponytail for the last leg of the tour. it was pulling out her hair.

And, yes, Fincher filmed the concert footage. Read on...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I read in the article, David Fincher only directed the Japan shows (which are available on Laserdisc/online bootleg).

Did he film the Paris shows as well? As in: Everything behind-the-scenes is by Alek, and the concert footage is totally David Fincher? Somewhere in the article, I swear I read that Alek was the one who directed the French shows.

God, I really hope Fincher shot and directed the concert footage in Truth or Dare!!!

No. Fincher started on the show early on, according to that link. What I meant by my post was that Fincher was a part of the filming but then dropped out. I would love for someone to ask him about it, since that interview is the only evidence (I believe) that he was a part of the production. I inadvertantly confused the reviewer when I mentioned it.

ALL concert footage was shot in the same location for the film, regardless of where they place it in the documentary.

I disagree. I feel items regarded with nastalgia can be a part of extras unqualifiedly. I'm not sure what your getting at with the time comment. There are laws and cirumstances which apply today, which did not then. That's all I meant by the 80s reference.

I meant that

A) this movie came out in 1991.
B) just because this movie came out in 1991 doesn't mean that it doesn't have a feeling of nostalgia about it. However, that nostalgia is only limited to those who actually care about the film.
C) movies that were released in the 80's never had any extras unless they were released by criterion and on laserdisc.

TBH, I'm not sure what YOU meant by your comment.

I am well aware that the footage is from the same show. She had the ponytail for most of the US shows (all, I think).

What I simply meant to ask was whether or not David Fincher himself directed the show we see in Truth or Dare.

As for the Japan shows (like on the Laserdisc and VHS), did David Fincher film THAT? I have the official VHS from Japan, and I would LOVE to know whether or not he filmed it (well, directed it, at least).

Shame he couldn't direct Truth or Dare. Might have been better. Don't get me wrong- I've been an M fan for 7 years now!

I got my copy last night, but haven't watched it yet. Planning to run it tonight. This was such a HUGE for me. Bonus features or not, I'm overjoyed to have it on BD.

Now please give us Evita with all the amazing supplements that were on the Criterion laserdisc. The film deserves much better treatment than the bare bones, non-anamorphic DVD that's currently available.

Yes, she had it for all the US shows.
Fincher did not direct that show and he definitely didn't direct the TV special that was released on VHS and laserdisc.
