Upping the resolution without taking care of the master tapes which will be used to make digital 1600P copies is pointless.

Upping resolution helps when your making the screens bigger, but unless your going 100" and above the current resolutions are fine.

Even gaming doesn't require that kind of resolution. There is only so much your going to get out of this hobby, and adding an extra 2% of detail isn't going to set the world alight.

I don't see why we would need higher resolution than 1080p. Your eyes can only take in soo much, and you would have to be sitting only a few feet away from a very large screen to take full advantage.
