![]() ![]() ![]() I'm glad to hear that about the Fanny and Alexander release. My friend has been wanting it for so long now, and had to place a second order for it, as B&N cancelled his first one. If this one ships though, it's such a shame that he has to wait a month or so to get it, being Canadian and all. ![]() Did you bother to order 12 Angry Men as well? |

Is Town Without Pity out on BD yet? It seems like a title that would fit well within the collection, and group well with 12 Angry Men and Anatomy of a Murder. It's a MGM/Mirisch Productions/United Artists title, so it's a possibility.

Absolutely agreed on Karl Malden. A GREAT actor and most definitely underappreciated for his role as Gen. Omar Bradley in Patton. HE had the luxury of having the real Omar Bradley on the set as an advisor for the film. I had the rare pleasure of seeing him on a trip to California as a teen, filming a scene from "The Streets of San Franciso"...screeching a car to a halt and jumping out of the car. He stumbled on his first attempt...the crowd gathered cheered him and he lovingly tipped his hat to us. He seemed like a nice guy! |

3-for-2 sale if you buy three $39.99 Criterions they'll be $18.13 each before sales tax, after use of hypothetical 20% member coupon, 15% non-member coupon, and $5 off $50 member coupon. I remember seeing an additional 10% off on one of the 3-for-2 sales. It said "CLASSCODE" or something on my receipt. If that is the case each Criterion will be $16.15 before sales tax, but after use of hypothetical 20% member coupon, 15% non-member coupon, and $5 off $50 member coupon. YMMV of course getting all three coupons to take and there's no guarantee of a 20% member coupon or 15% non-member coupon, but judging from past sales there should be at least one % off coupon. We know you have to buy at least three to get one free so there's a good chance your total will exceed $50 if you're buying Criterions. The $5 off $50 coupon doesn't expire until 01/22/2012. Of course none of this has been confirmed, but it’s fun to speculate. 50% off all Criterions still wins, unless we see some high % off coupons during a 3-for-2 sale. $39.99 Criterions become $18 after membership discount, $14.40 after 20% off member coupon before sales tax of course. The days of a mystery 50% off member and non-member coupons are probably over. Stacking those on top a 3-for-2 sale yielded three Criterions for a little over $30. Doubt we'll see that again. ![]() Karl Malden is underappreciated period. I love the man, and everything he's been in. This may sound silly, but I loved his turn as Judge Higgins in the 1967 Disney film, The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin, which also featured Roddy McDowell, Suzanne Pleshette, and Richard Hayden. I also watched him recently in Dead Ringer with Bette Davis and Peter Lawford, and he was again, excellent. He's in so many classic films, but he's often overlooked for the "other stars." |

I wish we could just get Criterion titles year round at decent prices instead of having to wait for sales.
Also what is Amazon's deal on pricing. The differences in their prices are sometimes rather extreme. For instance 12 Angry Men and Design for Living on Criterion's site are both $31.96. Yet Amazon has 12 Angry men for $27.99 and Design For Living at $35.99. Just drives me crazy. |

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I'm not in the Criterion thread very often so I can't keep up!
I want to get Sanjuro/Yojimbo tonight, 50% off would make it $35. I JUST got an email with a coupon that says "Save an EXTRA 30% off one item" Is this coupon valid for the Criterion sale? Can I use it to get Sanjuro/Yojimbo for $25? Has anyone got this same email and tried? Or is it a YMMV kind of thing? Thanks! EDIT: I'm sorry, I swore I went into the Barnes and Noble Criterion Sale thread, I will ask this there, I'm sorry everyone for not paying attention. ![]() Karl Madden was a great character actor, you never saw him, you saw what he was playing. It wasn't about the mystic of who he was like certain actor but what he was doing. I find I prefer these type of actors more then those who are about their persona more then the role they are playing |

Go for it! $69.99 * 0.50 brings it down to $35.00, add 10% membership discount, you're looking at $31.50, add your 30% off coupon, $22.05 plus your % sales tax. So final cost of $22.05 plus sales tax if everything goes as planned, ![]() Indiana has a sales tax of 7%, correct? $23.59 after 7% sales tax. ![]() Rich, the only 2 Wes dvd's I have are Rushmore and Royal Tenenbaums, as they are the only 2 I think are any good ( I know, here comes the s##tstorm...) But I always like to see if the BD is a vast improvement and this seems like it may be. If not, I usually keep my dvd as the extras are normally identical to the upgrade and unload the BD, as they usually sell used for about what you paid for it. |
