I hope they do the audio on this right. When I was waiting for my first DVD player, I picked up two DVDs so I would have them ready the day my player arrived. Given how early this was in the intro of DVD, I looked through what was available and picked Twister to test out the audio and Tenchi: the Movie because I wanted a good anime title to start out with. So, in the coming months I will be able to replace my first DVD, and also my first LD when Independence Day comes out.

Looks like it's going to be a port from HD-DED - again.

Just saw that... get the PCM 5.1 I guess. Hopefully it's a rocker.

Not sure anyone wants to see hunts jublies. She's hot in her own sort of way but not sure she is "show boobs" hot.

What a long, strange road this has been, eh?

But did you know that Twister was the first move on DVD(source IMDB), and will be the last HD DVD Warner release?

I thought that was pretty neat.
That would explain why the DVD has terrible PQ.

Twister was the first DVD I bought (two months before I owned a player), butit wasn't the first commercially available DVD in the U.S.

Quote:
The first titles released in the U.S., on March 19, 1997, by Lumivision, authored by AIX Entertainment, were IMAX adaptations: Africa: The Serengeti, Antarctica: An Adventure of a Different Nature, Tropical Rainforest, and Animation Greats.

I believe both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray will have Dolby TrueHD (according to the back cover posted on DVDEmpire.com). Lets hope they don't enable the DialNorm crap like they normally do.

I wished I had bought the soundtrack for this. k.d. Lang's Love Affair, which was only briefly segued into in the film, is a great track!

I actually love the soundtrack and score to this movie. Just because they seem to work together (especially the couple score cues that fade into the Van Hallen tracks). You could probably find the soundtrack for cheap used... The score on the other hand is out of print and goes for $50+

They must have switched it, initially it was PCM and now it's Dolby True. Either way, I am very glad for an uncompressed track. This was the first dvd I ever purchased, and I just love this movie, it spawned my fascination with tornados. I was always disappointed that none of the game systems had a game for this, it would have been great chasing tornados in a game. That really is too bad.

I remember being in awe of the picture quality on the dvd, and now that I look at it, it's not that great of a pressing. But this movies does have one killer soundtrack, and I have read they completely remastered the picture and sound for this release from source material, not from an old transfer (this was in a story later last year in Home Media Magazine).

I better replace my Denon (7.1 analogs but no hdmi, I bought it one year before they added hdmi, darn it) before Twister comes out, since the PS3 has no analog outs. I sure hope that the Panasonic bd-50 comes out soon, I want that for my home theater and the PS3 goes to the living room, then I'll have a blu house.

I love this movie as well and I can't wait to get my Blu copy of it!

Another cool thing that I love about this movie (as well as Speed, Shooter, and Training Day) is that Mark Mancina, the guy who does the score for these movies, is my Mom's neighbor so I've know him almost all of my life! He's a really cool guy too ! He even signed my Speed & Twister score CDs.

Actually the first DVD's released were Imax: Antartica; Imax: The Serengetti and Imax: Tropical Rainforest from Lumivision/DVD Internationl, a week before the first wave of Warner titles were released regionally on March 24, 2007.

Let's just hope that Twister in HD looks better than the original DVD.

SOOOO...

This may be true now.

Twister the first movie EVER released on DVD could be the LAST HD DVD made as Warner has confirmed they will still honor their HD DVD releases even after all the big news.

Pretty damn cool fact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, Twister and Jumanji didn't show up on DVD until April/May of 1997. I know at least three of the original large studio DVD releases were The Glimmer Man, Space Jam and a Time To Kill on 3/24/1997, since I was waiting at THe Wiz to buy them that day. They were on a spinner rack LOL.
