Meh. I have 2 strikes for discussing religion, I made the mistake of not bothering to read the rules first. Which I'm not too bothered about, I just think it's unfair I got two of them for the same incident, 1 would have been suficient. It's there forum, the can make whatever rules they want, if they want you to stand on your head and yodal while posting, then that you must.

If you want to discuss something that's banned here, there's no shortage of forums on the net. I'm over on RichardDawkins.net Forum occationally (same username as Blu-ray.com), say hi if you see me there.

Sorry but that site looks boring as Hell and I for one am not going anywhere. This is my home and family. Sure we all disagree or agree from time to time, but the respect remains and the fun never ends.

The point I was trying to make is, you can belong to multipul forums at ones, that way if a paticular topic is inappropriate at one forum, discuss it at another. Nobody's asking you to leave Blu-ray.com

I still say we flog anyone who starts a star wars or lotr based thread. whip it. whip it good. this place is just like work in some ways. don't discuss religion, politics, or sports with people from boston

besides if we start opening up that floodgate I may just scare everyone away from this website.

Only about 30% of all topics are about info. Why don't those threads get closed?

And as for the comment about WickyWoo, the guy that made that comment did it very respectfully so I don't see why the other guy said it was out of line.....no offense but are you trying to score brownie points with Wick? Because I myself have noticed that Wick plays favs bigtime and also closes certain threads and hands out infractions unfairly. And that's not opinion, it's fact based upon research I did after feeling unfairly treated by Wick myself. If you doubt it have a look yourself.

And I fully agree this siter needs a feedback page. Since I first started visiting it, alot of it has gone downhill. Plenty of threads that violate the rules are allowed to remain and some of those are either started by or allowed to continue by mods.

And most of the people citing "See the Rules" clearly only apply those when "Educating" someone else but not in their own posts.
Stop trying to change the subject, Picard would kick Kirk's ass!

To the OP,

Umm, it pretty much states in the rules for the forum, NO discussions of Politics or Religion? How is that so difficult to understand?

There are/were enough heated discussions about the format war as it is. Having discussions about these subjects is simply beyond the scope of the forum.

Bashing WickyWoo for trying to uphold the rules of the forum is wrong too.

You want to talk about these subjects, go to another forum, happy sailing!

To the OP, if you really want to talk about religion go to www.religion.com if you are inclined. This is no disrespect to you but you really shouldn't be on blu-ray.com for these purposes. Have a great day!

I do not know about the religion or whatever stuff, but I will say I have received some of the most asinine infractions lately and it is absurd.
As far as the Religious and Political, I personally do not see the harm in a thread that is "Enter at your own risk".
I like to think that we are adults and not some kind of xanax p.c. cult, but eh what can you do.

Just a question. Is it really considered bashing when you respectfully state a fact? Wouldn't bashing involve at least a degree of derogatory remarks and/or perhaps some defamation of character or insults..maybe even some lying? Just wondering?

As for religion... well that only becomes about 10x more heated than politics.
Agreed, I've witnessed many good people discussing politics and religion that ended up turning to a heated argument. The problem with religion/politics is people are going to stand up for their beliefs when you question them. It's one thing to explain your political views to people that have no idea what they're talking about in hopes of them learning something they may not have known, but it's another to take two people and put their morals and opinions on the line when neither are clearly going to change their mind.

I'm Atheist and very liberal. My best friend is Catholic and a tad conservative. If we're not debating religion or polics, we get along quite well and enjoy each other's company.

Anyhoo~~~~, what I'm getting at is that there is a time and place for everything, and this is a place for Blu-ray.

Even if the "Enter at your own risk" threads were allowed, they would bleed into general discussion. As for the OP, no religion means no religion. Even in the form of questioning the rule....

I did not even read the thread in question. However, discussions about politics and religions are usually disallowed in most forums. Forget about even bringing those topics in a business environment. I like to state my opinion, and I live with the consequences. However, I don't understand the problem that some posters have with Wicky. The rules are there for a reason and he enforces them. I have to admit that Wicky is my favorite Mod here (with respect to everybody else). Guys I remember more than one occasion when everybody was going crazy around here due to FUD from the red camp. WickyWoo was always here for us and provided "insider" type information to settle the masses. I appreciate that, and I won't forget it

Whatever, the gist of the statement, is that he is making comments that are way out of line against a mod just for doing what he is supposed to be doing.
