Bestbuys ad says buy 2 get a 10 dollar gift card. Buying 4 saves 20 dollars off the price, puting the set at $100. Each movie comes with 7.50 to see puss in boots in theaters, which I wanted to see with my family anyways, saving another 30 dollars. That puts the set at 70 dollars or half of the msrp of 140. With that in mind, what do you all consider to be the better value, the best buy set at 70 dollars (half price), or the samsung/ebay set for $40? Also, I have a wierd quirk where I don't really want to own a non-retail version of something, usually due to lack of packaging quality and or bonus features. Any remarks about the "value" of either set?

The Puss n Boots movie passes ($8.00 off) expired on 11/29 (unless there's another promo I don't know about). Best value is the $40 eBay/Samsung set.

C'mon, Katzenberg: include the dang supplements on the retail versions. Universal and Sony do.

And it appears "Donkey's Christmas Shrektacular" is excluded from the Shrek Forever After 3D BD also.

I love Katzenberg's passion for Blu-ray and 3D...

But this guy seriously doesn't know how to sell Blu-ray 3D without enraging consumers and exposing his massive feelings of greed.

For my Samsung version you have to turn the 3D off on your player or TV to get them to playback in 2D.

I don't know if the BB exclusives are the same exact disc. (I think they are.)

I got the 4 cheap through an amazon seller a while back.

Some say "greed," some say "prescience." I've said it before and I'll say it again, Jeffrey is an insanely bright guy with command of far more data, industry knowledge and expert projections about the 3D market than any of us. I guess the play here is: 3D is the "get" here and deserves a price premium all by itself. And my speculation is that the supps are withheld to help leverage a future release when the 3D market is larger. Despite naysayers/poo poo-ers in the daily press and elsewhere, I'm still reading market analysis reports saying 3D will really be setting it off in 2014.

So, yes, it sucks in the near term for that subset of an already minority audience that cares about such things that the supps are excluded. But I can see the business "sense" (read: cents) of the decision.

Unless it's a gift, I'll continue to rent DWA 3D BD titles and buy titles from, say, Warner, Sony, and those other studios who give me the whole 3D BD with supps enchilada.

I think Warner is the only studio whose titles memorialize this option with a menu choice (I know POLAR EXPRESS does and I'll soon see with DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2).

On my Panasonic DMP-BDT300, it's a Setup option whether you'd like the player to first ask you whether to play in 2D or 3D when you load a BD with 3D content.

My sister bought my daughter the 4 movies on Blu-ray for Christmas last year so I was really unsure about paying out for the 3D versions....but just found them for $28.99 on ebay with free shipping (WI pays tax) so jumped on the deal. It's the promotional set that went out with the Samsung TV's but it includes all 4. Not sure if we're allowed to link so mods please delete if not (or i'll remove if someone lets me know).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/200624629531...84.m1439.l2649

Edit - WTF, they just put the price up 10 mins after I ordered to $30.99.

I'll keep an eye on that Ebay listing and bite at $28.99. $2 isn't a huge difference but I already own the 2D set so a few dollars helps out on the double dip.

Just bought these for $26 from Ebay. Listed at $29.95 Buy It Now or Best Offer and I offered $24, $25, and then the seller accepted $26.

Shrek 1-3 3D included and a voucher to use for Shrek 4 3D. $6.50 each for 3D is as good as it gets.

Follow-up, the seller does NOT provide the serial number needed for the 4th movie. So unless you have the correct Samsung Kit or 3D TV that will work you really only get 1-3. I contacted the seller and cancelled my order.

FWIW HALLOWS' menus do not feature this option, likely because those releases include a 2D BD. (Turns out A CHRISTMAS CAROL won't play on my Panny 350 if you chose 2D at the player. So it appears for Disney discs you need to switch off 3D in your diplay if you want 2D playback from their 3D discs for whatever reason.)

Not to be alarmist, but is the voucher redemption program still even "live" given that the SHREKs are available at Best Buy now? Didn't that program have an end date that was stated either online or on the voucher itself? I just checked mine (I redeemed online) and it wasn't on there but I have a vague memory of seeing a 'sunset date' for that redemption program. That's not gonna stop ebayers from selling you a voucher that you can't redeem. So some "caveat emptor" caution might be in order.

That sucks, but think I will still keep my order. 3 for $30 isnt bad still. Cheaper then at Best Buy. I'll just pick up the 4th from there.

Default Best Buy 3D Shrek

I was wondering if Best Buy has dropped the Shrek movies. Looked on their web site and they are not listed anymore. Thoughts?

Well I was at Best Buy the other day. I saw that Forever After was $29.99 I believe. Didn't look at the others of the series. I don't know if that's dropped or not. I didn't even realize they were available until I saw the Shreks sitting there on the shelf.

I bought my set from ebay and the person selling gave me the serial number I needed to get the 4th movie. I redeemed it on 12/17 and Samsung shipped it on 12/20 and I'm pretty sure it arrived before Christmas. I did it all online. Very easy and quick process. It did say to allow 6-8 weeks for delivery so I was amazed at how fast they dealt with it.

Hey all,

Is it worth taking 1-3 for $30 bucks? in case if I have trouble getting the 4th one as I have a Sony Tv not a Samsung (I understand from the postings that I may need to enter some serial number of Samsung?).
Thanks,

Any idea of Sony BDP-S480, can do the same?
I love watching it in 3D, but may want to watch it again without those bulky glasses on me everytime.
Thanks,
