Here is a pic of my JP Mondo print all framed up. I didn't do anything fancy, just a simple black frame.

Nice, that looks great! That is a really great looking print.

To me it's always been about simple and minimal for frames. It's all about the picture, not the frame anyway, anything more could potentially detract from the print. Good stuff.

I really like that JP print, it did catch my eye when I was looking around on the Mondo site. Really seems to capture how I remember that movie as a kid.

As for the posters - I'm at work so I don't have them with me - but if I had to guess I would say 18 x 24", based on standard sizing. Could be bigger though, I can measure to double check when I get home. I wish they had both colors there, it would have been nice to get some of both.

Almost forgot to add - let me know if you want any. Not sure if the shipping/postage might be worth it to some places, but it could be worth a try.

Starmartyr, things are good here in Southern Ontario, haven't had to break the shovel out so no complaints

Thanks for the offer on the poster, my backlit frame will only accomodate 27x40 or greater I'm afraid so I will have to take a pass. I've got a pile of other prints that needs framing without adding a poster into the mix

grooveska, your print looks really great, thanks for sharing! Looknig forward to framing mine!

Be sure to post pics when you get it framed. It's always cool to see what other people do with their framing.

Looks great gooveska and i agree with Starmartyr that the frame shouldn't detract from the artwork. I have a few JC Richard prints that are non mondo i love. His landscape work is second to none and i'm glad to hear Mondo will be using him more this year.

That's good to hear roar, it's the same here, we had a 'brown' Christmas, which definitely hasn't happened in a looooong time here.

So no worries on the poster, I was throwing it out there to see if anyone was interested. I may put one up at some point as it is kind of unique. But I know what you mean, I have lots of stuff waiting to be put in frames the 'right' way. Framing costs are surprisingly high.. so far I've been getting away with most of my stuff in cheap frames, but I don't want to do that for long. I have some vintage 60's posters that should really be properly framed at some point too.

For the movie posters I think I will move straight to lightboxes. I figure I should go all the way and show these off the way they were meant to be. I was pointing out the lightboxes at the theater the other day and my wife commented that you get a new appreciation for them when you start to really look into them. I can't wait to get one personally, they look awesome. I have one of the theatrical posters for MI:4 as well, it has all the number codes all over it that light up - that one begs to be back lit for sure!

Speaking of which - the lightbox you built is VERY nice. I'm jealous. Did you use 2 fluorescent bulbs in yours, or 4?

Hey, there's an idea - you could always build and sell those to suckers like me...

I hear you on framing, I'm trying to source a cheaper place now actually. I am going to give them one of my prints and see what kind of job they do, if I like it, I will throw them some more business for sure.

Thanks for the comments on the lightbox... it is 4 bulbs and it lights the pictures up fantastic, I really am a fan over the florescent lights over the led/rope lights I've seen, those look good too and allow you to do a nice slim mount... but if you've got the room to go in wall or don't mind the box sitting out a bit fluorescent is the way to go.

I do know why the things cost so much mind you, I'm not sure I could turn a profit on them the way it cost me to but it together, they are a lot of work. That all being said... I have considered doing a British Quad light box... that would be pretty sweet looking.

True on the lightbox cost, when you add up time + materials + tools, etc - it's pretty much why I'd rather buy than build. Yours is really cool though, a person would definitely pay a premium for a nicely finished one like that.

Do you find 4 bulbs abit too much light, or just right? I have the choice of going with 2 or 4, it's about $100 more for 4, I'm just not sure if it would be necessary in my light controlled room.

For sure a british quad one would be cool too - they are like the 'widescreen' of movie posters!

That is exactly what I think of when I see a british quad!

I don't find the 4 bulbs too much at all, it would be my preference given the two options. I'm not sure how the two light one would work, I suppose they could have some good reflection going on behind the lights, where as mine has none, it is just a plain old light fixture.

Thanks for the post... I'm headed into Toronto on the weekend, guess I'll make a there as well. I'll try and post a picture of it up in my lightbox, the Dark Knight Rises has been in there for a while now, time for a change

Rather odd question,

Has anyone seen where you can obtain a cheap original or reproduction poster for the Turkish film, The Man Who Saved the World, also known as The Turkish Star Wars?

The design below is the one I have been looking for.

I saw that. I somehow stumbled on it before that and my friends and I watched it, it is an entertaining as hell movie. Don't get me wrong, it was terrible, but fun to watch...

For anyone who missed (such as myself) the Mondo Jurassic Park and Fortress of Solitude it looks like JC Richard will be putting up his AP copies sometimes next week but no exact time just yet.

Thanks for the heads up.

I got Fortress of Solitude but missed out on Jurassic Park. Hopefully I can pick one up next week.
