Default Engadget Poll: Should Toshiba have spent millions on an HD DVD Super Bowl ad?

http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/03/t...f-desperation/

I voted:
Hell no, it's all over, what's the difference anymore?

Was that at ad for a HD DVD player? I was distracted because it was still light on outside after the game...Is HD DVD still going strong in Hawaii?

I voted It doesn't matter anyway

They should have spent money on a new laptop commercial. Or even something else altogether.

My choice wasn't there:

Yes - I want to them to keep throwing money down the toilet until they're broke.

Trouble is with that is they have buckets load of cash and we would be waiting 20 years for them run out of money........ running ads for their Upscaling players

They just need to give up and save some face !!

As long as Toshiba corp. wil be happy with throwing the benefit the rest of the company makes (TVs, Industrial Electrics, Air Conditionning, Nuclear ...) into a vacuum, HD DVD will stay in the air.
Hopefully the shareholders (after an exec. admitted publicly that HD DVD was losing some big money recently) will put a stop to that, probably Q3 or Q4 2008 imho.

Now that the "BIG" Superbowl announcement has come and gone , what is left for HD-DUD? If I was in the red camp, I would be scratching my head on the AD, and you spent how much for that?!? At least go out swinging, it just seems they have no clue...

I can't believe they didn't change the movie clips. I know they don't have much, but they could have put in American Gangster and Beowulf, instead of three movies where the most recent one was released in early December.

BDA said they couldn't get anything "Superbowl caliber" ready in time, obviously the HD DVD PRG could not, either. This really was desperation, especially since it was in SD.

Apparently they didn't spend the full amount probably less then a million and just bought certain local advertisement spaces not the full national for 2.7mil. And what would you expect Tosh of cousre they would lie and claim they paid the whole amount just so with all the hype everyone would find the clip and see it anyway if they were unable to see it as it wasn't nation wide like every other fully paid NFL commercial.

Guys, the end is close. There isn't much more Toshiba can do anymore. They lost 25% profit last quarter and may be forced to abandon HD DVD all together. It is coming and coming fast. This will not be much longer.

Default Another difference between BDA and HDDVD

BDA didn't run an add because they couldn't get something of Super Bowl caliber in time. HDDVD just rehashed an old add and made it sound like the second coming.
The question since is all the reds have been saying for weeks this was going to be the last great stand that was going to turn the tide, what is the NEW thing going to be to save HDDVD?
