If I'm not mistaken, Betaman is running B&W speakers (705's and 686's). While all decent receivers features-wise, the above won't do the B&W's justice. Sound-wise there's no comparison; the Rotel wins hands down. Like Crackinhedz said (you previously), as long as the player can decode you're all set with 1.1.

I'm actually looking at Rotel for my speakers. I have a pair of Dynaudio Audience 72SE fronts that I will be adding to. I'm holding out for a few more months hoping to see some v1.3 receivers released. If not, well, 1.3 isn't essential. Good luck.
