I put "Tentative No". It would probably increase the price of the disc.

Now, if they had a "Special Blu-ray Edition" with the uncompressed SACD as a PCM/TrueHD alternate soundtrack, I'd buy it.

A one time showing on TCM is one thing. Pressed media is ENTIRELY different when it comes to royalties.

We'd probably be talking at least $5-8 a disc. Seriously, just for that, and that would be the "we want this to happen" price. Because these are full plays of songs, and you're buying the whole album.

So it would add at least $10 to the sticker price. And they'd have to press it as a limited edition because there's no way they want royalties like that hanging off them when it goes $10 or less

I absolutely agree

People spend way more than that for limited edition DVDs with little extra value except a nice packaging and some collectible cards. I don't see why this shouldn't appeal to maybe 1000 customers to buy an overpriced LE. I'd buy one

Is the SACD in multichannel? Where can you buy it cause i can't find it on Amazon (except for the live concert).
Please please please give me a link to this. (Being "The Wall" not "Dark Side of the Moon", I have that on SACD already).

You'd probably need at least 10,000 to make it worthwhile

But since they are releasing the BD anyway, it can't be that much of a financial strain to create another encode and then just press it for a limited number of discs? And the royalties plus something extra gets added to the price. Or am I missing something?

There is no such thing as a 'The Wall SACD'.

There's only the 'DSoTM SACD', the unofficial DVDA and the unofficial DTS/DVDA of 'Wish you were here'.

Dang. Well at least there is a "Wall Live" SACD... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=3B8C7RGDZN6WE

I really want the Wall on SACD. or DVDa. Or BD.

Yeah right.... the band would never allow this. They can't agree on anything, believe me I know. We'd be lucky to even see DSOTM on BD in the future. When my friend did DSOTM on SACD it was a long bureaucratic process with miles of red tape, and that was even sanctioned by the band and Guthrie. Don't hold your breath.

so long as it doesn't effect av quality go for it. Personally I think it's bollocks but would be worth a spin once.

WB could sell 10,000 copies of a "Ultimate Edition" for an extra $10. This is an all time classic.

It just comes down to what Pink Floyd expects for their music.

I voted "Definite Yes - It's a must have special / extra feature."

But don't believe it will happen. I have a custom made DVD with the added Dark Side of the Moon Track & it is awesome

Getting retailers to carry it for one thing. The up front expenditure is high (especially as noted above, the legal and negotiation stage), the likely return on people willing to spend the money is low. So you either charge a huge additional sum for a feature most people would watch once or twice, or you decide it's not worth the trouble

In all honesty- This is a job for BD-Live. The people that really want it can drop $14.99 to buy the album electronically, and there's an ap that will automatically sync it once it's on a flash card in the player

As has been mentioned previously, it wouldn't be free to the consumer: you'd be paying for it because Warner would undoubtedly figure the additional cost into the SRP.

I found it almost on accident on amazon...seriously...it's there...it has a blue cover instead of black...

come to think of it, I typed in SACD and it was one of the top choices available..

Mission: Impossible was originally scored by Alan Silvestri and re-scored by Danny Elfman.

Troy - Gabriel Yared and then James Horner

Alien - Jerry Goldsmith and then mostly replaced by classical music

Legend - Jerry Goldsmith and the replaced by Tangerine Dream

Etc, etc. It would be cool to include the alternate scores on the BD for a different viewing/listening experience.
I think Alien and Legend actually had both scores on the discs. I really wish that the director's cut of Troy had the option to choose between Horner and Yared. I'd choose Yared everytime. Unfortunately they only picked one track by Yared to be in the Director's Cut and it was the worst one. I think it's called Howling Women or something like that... maybe moarning women. As for M:I, Silvestri's score really didn't fit the movie. It was kind of more of a rockish score, where as Elfman's actually felt like the good old M:I stuff.

There's tons more of rejected scores, like Ransom by Howard Shore, King Kong by Howard Shore (though that was never recorded and maybe not even written), Bad Boys II by Mark Mancina (that was more him just dropping out after he was told he couldn't use his original themes or he had to alter them)... It sucks.
