It was a lot of fun. We talked and partied for about an hour, then we had a free-form sorta prog-rock/jazz jam for about an hour and a half, then we went into the HT room and checked out a few blu-ray concerts for a couple of hours while partying some more, then jammed a little bit more.
![]() ![]() Today I've been working on my HT room a bit more. I got out my measuring tape and adjusted my front speakers so everything is nice and symmetrical, then I wiped all of the fingerprints off of them and hid some speaker wires that were showing. I also dusted and vacuumed in there too. Now I'm going to remeasure my speaker distances and make sure they are correct in my receiver, then I'm going to watch a couple of movies. I heard that you imported a new bank last night, and made a few deposits and withdrawls. I'm sure you probably had a more lucrative evening than me! ![]() Edit: I also switched out some pics in my gallery with new ones of my new fronts, and removed the old ones with my old fronts. The new shots are looking great Joe and riser for the surrounds looks too have been a fun project.
![]() Not too sound like a smartass but if you were hoping for auralex performance in the decouplers you might not be getting that. You'll need real acoustic foam. Although just the decoupling can properly also do a little. ![]() |

I started this thread to ask for opinions about it: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...62#post5873962 Also, don't worry about offending me when talking about my setup, or just in general. I'm here to learn, and appreciate any consructive criticism that I can get. I have pretty thick skin, and I actually kind of like smartasses, at least more than dumbasses. ![]() Last edited by frogmort; 03-05-2012 at 07:36 AM. |

Checked out that thread, saw the replies, then your post & final solution. Looks perfectly acceptable to me as well. Those little speakers aren't prob putting out much Bass anyway, as they're the REAR Surrounds for the few movies that Use 7.1 Audio. The Sides Surrounds prob get the majority of the Audio anyway (in 7.1 movies), & the Rears are more likely used to Accent certain scenes, while helping to envelop the room as a whole. Great DIY Job. You can always get the SpeakerDudes IF/When you can [Show spoiler] .

![]() I always keep my PLIIx turned on for movies and concert blu-rays, so they are always in use(except for 2ch music listening), but yeah, they don't really shake the house. ![]() |

Had to make a few phone calls, then fixed me a sammich, but I'm back!
![]() Yes. I even went back and read it again just now. I have a Sony STR-DH800 receiver with DCAC(Digital Cinema Auto Calibration), and I'm just not sure how acurate and reliable it is. I've tried it a few times, but generally don't care for the results. It sets all of my speakers to large, even my surrounds with 5.25" drivers, it usually sets my sub and surround levels so low that I can't even hardly tell that they are on, and sets the distances wildly different than what they actually are. On top of all of this, it makes all of the speakers sound more muffled. I guess I could run it, then readjust everything except for the distances and see how that is, but I wish that I could A/B it's distance settings to my measuring tape distances, but I can't really do this, because I would have to readjust each speaker to make that comparison which would take at least a minute, and by that time, I honestly don't think my memory would be that reliable. One thing that I did do before in my old room was to measure and adjust the distances of all the speakers, then I put on some bass heavy music and adjusted the sub distance back and forth, and found it slightly fuller after adjusting the settings. I guess it was getting them more in phase with the other speakers. |

![]() ![]() The audio on The Phantom Menace, and to a slightly lesser degree Attack of the Clones is some of the best surround audio ever. The podrace in TPM is crazy good. Revenge of the Sith doesn't have anywhere near as good sound. Maybe great audio doesn't make a great movie, but it helps! |
