Well Firefly required you to use your brain, cost a lot of money to produce

Jersey Shore is perfect for today,s society and our lack of thinking and is cheap to produce.

It's all about money now a days and not quality. Wheedon should have pitch Firefly to HBO, would have been on for thrre or four seasons and would have been a wonderful produce show.

Not to mention, if it was on HBO we'd have gotten a naked Kaylee and Inara (Especially Inara! Given her profession and all)! I kid, I kid..... But you know you Can't have an HBO show without everyone doin' it

Watched it many times too, planning to start watching it again very soon. Luckily Joss Whedon still hasn't given up on it:

Hate to say it, but comparing Firefly to that peice of crap Jersey Shore is an insult to Firefly. Firefly is not a reality series. I would compare Firefly to other shows of its same genre ... sheesh ...

Jersey Shore is about muscle headed, braindead morons who couldn't act their way out of a paper bag and Snookie is what happens when you smoke too much crack. bahhh

Personally, I think Battlestar Galactica is a better series. I think Firefly could've been a better show had it lasted a few more seasons. Firefly started to really take off towards the end and then they suddenly pulled the plug.

It's the fault of Fox Studios. Not only did they broadcast the series out of order, it had a sporadic broadcast schedule, pre-empted by broadcast sports, and the victim of interference by studio execs who had no faith in the series.

What made it even worse is that Fox didn't realize its mistake until after the series was released to DVD. It became a cult hit and Fox ended up selling a crapload of DVD sets and they realized that it was a mistake to cancel the series. But, then, it was too late. Whedon had taken the project to Universal, who produced a movie. The movie tanked at the theater but it went on to make a lot of money on DVD and Blu-ray.

There's still rumors that there could be a "direct-to-video" sequel but it's all in the wind.

I like BSG but I love Firefly, that cast, the humor, the stories, not a single bad story in all those 14 episodes. Still miss it.

why are we comparing firefly to BSG? they are two totatly different shows being told in two totatly different ways that have nothing to do with each other. both were execellent shows and told their stories well. they were very good for what they both were.

this is a firefly thread, let's keep it firefly. there's a BSG thread and lord help us probably a jersey shore thread too.

let's discuss the firefly blu in this thread. just saying, this is how threads get off track and ultimately taken over.

just saying...

with as much fan base as there is for the firefly series and the movie tie-in "serenity" to the firefly universe, i'm surprised that no cable studio to even include sci-fy has contacted Joss about bringing it back. I think it would be a hugh sucess and a great money maker!

How would they
[Show spoiler]bring back Wash?

I would tune in to every episode if they made new ones and yep, pick it up on blu too!

Um, both are sci-fi shows, so they are not "totally" different.

I don't see how comparing Firefly to another sci-fi show is an issue. As long as people are using the comparison to express what they liked or disliked about Firefly, the thread is still on-track.

I really wish there was more to dig into. And now I can say I like Serenity a little more, and it actually all makes sense to me now.

I'm already looking forward to watching the series/movie again.
Awesome. Glad you enjoyed it! My wife and I were talking about starting to watch it again.

That is where I get worried. I am not sure how you could do a sequel with Serenity in the mix. You would still have to keep Shepard
[Show spoiler]a complete mystery as to his past

It's too late for the mystery. A couple of comics (10 I think) have been produced around the time of the movie, and after, and it is very well explained. Really good stories by the way. Any fans should read them!

A prequel may also be a good idea to resurrect the show, maybe set during the Civil War, how Mal and Zoe meet and fight during the different battles, etc. Even though they lose the war, I can think of a few Star Wars movies that don't go so well either

I'm just now realizing that the characters on the Serenity logo are Chinese for "Serenity"...and I study Chinese. I need to pay attention more. I don't even think I realized they speak Chinese in the show and film. I thought it was some obscure language. I guess this is the result of China and America forming an alliance in the future, hence The Alliance they fight against...

...and the historical parallels in the show to the Confederacy, American Civil War, slavery, etc. A deeper message in a television series...hmm I get it now No wonder it has such a fan base, at least for the people that prefer to think that is. Yes, I'm making a dig at Jersey Shore and all of the other crap on TV

You speak Chinese and didn't realize they were speaking Chinese? lols That's actually funny. I've know this since I started watching it when it was being broadcast, first-run, during its original broadcast schedule durinig the 90's.
