Its not your player, its the movie, they used different cameras and recording styles on several shots. Thats why you dont see it all the time. its normal, dont worry about it.

Get the $300 credit, spend the extra $100 and get a PS3. One word: Futureproof.

I'll buy "near-future resistant" but "futureproof" is a complete load of crappola, imo.

I don't think he meant "future proof" as an absolute. Way back in the early days of my joining this forum I was among the first to say BD was MORE future proof. I swear those CEO's are reading stuff here as they started to say it too. Not saying I made up the term, but I was among the first to use it. I'm sure others came up with it on their own.

However, the point is that BD IS future proof as long as HDTV remains a 1080p display for mainstream consumers.

About midway down the page there will be a link to order the firmware update on cd via mail. I believe it will ask for the serial number of your unit on the following page along with your mailing address. I submitted a request and I received my disc from Sony within a week.

Hope that helps!

I'm buying a 120 hz tv so i can get the best picture of of my BDP-300, my question is, can the "Motion-Flow" feature work on regular DVDs and Direct TV HD or only on BR discs?

Hello!

I plan to buy a Sony BDP-S 300. But one of my criterieas is that I want to play region code 1 and 2 DVDs on it too. Is there a way to do that with the S 300 player?

Greetings
Gert

Paidgeek says the S300 can decode TrueHD through HDMI, If so, it must have been slipped in with the latest firmware upgrade.

Can anyone confirm this with there reciever???

I would really like to know this for sure before I get a new reciever.

My player died on me last week. I wasn't even able to update the new 3.7 fw. This really sucks. I've only had it for 4 months and have watched a mere 30 movies thus far

I'm debating weather to bring it and get it fixed or get the Samsung BDP1400 currently on sale at Future Shop for $399 + 2 FREE MOVIES

Why can't these things work properly right out of the box??...and last!!

I also have the Toshiba HD-A2 and it has played flawlessly for 6 months

Needless to say I'm not impressed with YOU Sony

I am also very curious about this. If this is true that would be awesome!

If anyone can confirm this that would be great!

Did you call SONY?

I had to upgrade my BDP-S300 right after I got it. Had to run the firmware upgrade twice before it worked right. I just called SONY and they walked me through the process....went to my pc downloaded the firmware, burned it to a CD ROM and loaded it. Halfway thru the "...silver Surfer..." it froze .....called SONY back and they walked me thru the fix. Worked flawlessly ever since.

PCM tracks decoded from TrueHD and DD are CBR and have the same sampling frequencies and so receivers only show PCM or multichannel on the display and we can't tell which.

I did that but when I play the cd-rom it's starts the normal upgrade process with the message: DISC DWLD then it says NO DWLD 09 and won't go any further and the disc ejects itself ??

I'm using a Fujifilm CD-R

Now I get the message "can't play this disc" with any movie that was working beautifully last week

wtf is going on here??

Cheers

Unhappy

Did you ejected the disk before the upgrade process was completed?. If so, or if you did not downloaded the full upgrade correctly that sort of error will happen. Not sure what to do about it but you might need to take the player for service.

Mine died last week, after only having it since Christmas. It was a pile of junk.
Luckily I had my Target receipt, that was still under it's 90 day return policy. They took it back with no problem and we walked out with a PS3 instead of another BDP-3000.
The PS3 has been flawless; loads much faster, no "clicking" noises while loading, not one frozen movie...not even with our old DVDs. My husband simply said "why didn't we get the PS3 in the first place?"

If you are hearing clicking you probably got a bum unit to begin with. Statisically, a small percentage of any electronic item goes out defective. Plenty of others here have great running machines.

I called Sony they're sending me the updated firmware. If it doesn't work then I'll end up getting the PS3 also
