Will there be a price drop in the cost of BD's? $30, or $100 for 3 movies is too much. I can get from 8 to 12 new DVD's for the same price. (ie., Master in Commander on DVD is only $7.50 & I expect the Blu version to be $29.99)
I have a humble 40 BD's & I like 'em a lot, but w/out some price cuts across the board I'll just go back to DVD's, cuz they're really not that bad, especially on a PS3. Plus, I can get a digital copy of it anytime to have on my new iPod, or for safe keeping on my network... Now that Wal-Mart's officially Blu, BD prices shouldn't be more than $19 for new a release. Also every BD should include a digital copy. |

ya lower prices are just a matter of time. Id say that by the end of the year average price for a BD will be around 20 bucks

I think only those that haven't gone through a new format adoption before are asking these types of price questions now. |

Seems to me, the price of DVD's is going up (but hey, isnt everything?). Not even a year ago, they had "select" new release DVD's at Walmart for around $13 and now they start at $18.
Now you only end up paying $10 more upgrading to Bluray |

Just don't go overboard with your BD purchases. If you have $100 to throw away on some Blu-Ray's, then do it. But don't spend your last $100 on any kind of material item like that.

Dear God, we went through this same topic last week. Enjoy your DVD's, thanks for playing and way to support the home team.
So I guess a company that spends their money on R&D,production, marketing, etc. should not be able to make money. How dare they. |

When making an investment, you first need to figure out what time you will need to recoup it. The BDA members really didn't have the stones to stretch out that time frame too far; now that the war is over, perhaps they'll decide to not try to make a killing on 2% of the disc-based marketplace. Maybe. After what just happened in this industry, I know two things: the rich get richer, but they're didn't get rich by being rocket scientists. |

I too am hoping that price drops for movies will come soon.
As for the digital copy thing, I had done a survey for sony and one of the choices of what should be included on blu-ray discs was an option for digital copy, I chose that without hesitation. Mainly because I only have the PS3 to currently play blu-ray discs, which gives me far less portability than dvds did, since I could use them in my laptop at work etc. |
