I own it, and it works flawlessly for me, except I couldnt get audio to pass through from my Oppo 981. I have 4 sources go into the switch, 1 out to my tv, and the other out to my receiver, but my Oppo has to go straight into the receiver on the other receiver input. It'll bve nice once I add a projector and dont want to buy a whole nother set of components.

Here's what I'm looking at right now for myself: Setup A is the home theater. The Yamaha 2700 receiver, the Sony KD34XBR960 and the PS3. As it stands, I have the PS3 routed through the Yamaha for video/audio via HDMI and then HDMI from the receiver to the TV. Setup B is the computer which includes the NEC 2490wuxi LCD monitor. I've found that I like to game better on my computer setup even with the console. I can sit closer, more comfortably, and I can run things at 1080p/24 and get more resolution. It's an awesome monitor. I even watched a BD on it last night at 1080p/24 and was really blown away with it. All I want to do is this: I can send the PS3's video to the PC monitor without having to unlug and switch a bunch of things. I want a convenient switching element for these two setups. The PC connects to that monitor via DVI cable currently. So obviously I'd be looking at some HDMI-DVI cables if I get one of the following switchers: http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-...dGEF00168.html Gefen 2x2 HDMI Switcher With IR Remote Control, EXT-HDMI-242 OR http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 4X2 True Matrix HDMI 1.3a Powered Switch w/ Remote Controller (Rev. 2.0) ^^ This one is a bit cheaper than the Gefen but I almost wonder if there's a "you get what you pay for" situation here or not. There's a rather large thread on AVS, for one, where I see all kinds of tales of woe and bugaboos. I don't care about running both displays at the same time. Some day down the road I see myself upgrading my TV and I'm sure that will be an HDMI 1.3 set by the time I do. The Monorpice seems to have the edge on "specs on paper" in that regard. These are the only two devices I've run across with reasonable prices. I'm a little concerned about some of the hiccups and issues I've read across forums about "HDMI matrix switches." Anyone have any experiences with either of these? Should I be considering something else? All thoughts appreciated. ![]() EDIT: If my receiver had two HDMI outputs instead of 1 then all my problems would be solved. Last edited by JTK; 02-24-2008 at 06:29 PM. Reason: add |
