If there is residue of the glue from the security stickers on your BD covers, use the stickers themselves to remove them. Just dab a part of the sticker that has the glue and dab it off. It works. Trust me.
![]() The security tags inside the BD case is good if you want to steal the whole thing. The stickers are meant for those who just want to steal the disc. They need to cut TWO sides (either top or bottom, and the center) to get their hands in to remove the discs. fuad |

I find it all over the place. Lionsgate seems to have the worst, leaving behind residue. But, many Warner titles come from Amazon.com with only the very weak sticky top of case title tape. I'd have to look how they are in the stores. Gary Last edited by dialog_gvf; 03-19-2007 at 02:24 PM. |

Is there anywone else having trouble removing the security stickers from The Blu-Ray disc cases? I got 4 Blu-Ray movies today and it same like it took me forever to remove the security stickers and when I finaly did get them off it left a sticky mess.Sony and Disney seems the worse,I have yet had any problems removing security stickers from Fox. realy hate the stickers and wish the studios would not put them on the cases, but I understand why they put them on.I just wish they did not put them on so tight.

Vegatable oil is also good for removing sticker residue, but something like goo gone or mineral spirits will probably work better and without leaving an oily smear. As for removing the stickers themselves, the easiest way I've found is to cut through the stickers at the seam on the case edge(s) with a sharp knife or razor knife. And then pull them from the cut edge. Makes taking the stickers off pretty painless. If you leave them on the case after cutting, often times in about a day or so they'll partially come off on their own.

3m sells an adhesive remover (spray can) that works really well. Gets the residue off on DVD and blu-ray really well without ruining the case. I've noticed older titles that have sat around in a warehouse a long time seem to have the security stickers peel off but the adhesive stays on. Also the adhesive tends to stay on during the winter when its colder and has been sitting in a cold vehicle or your mailbox until you get it. If you can wait a few hours to let it warm up the glue seems to get a little less sticky but not always.

What I do that seems to work pretty good is just make sure to start peeling the security sticker where it makes contact with the BLUE plastic not where the cover art plastic is at. By simply pulling down with your nail it will pull the security sticker off the cover art and not leave any residue. I pull on the corner of the security sticker once I see that the corner of the security sticker has begun to unstick. So just start peeling the sticker (with your nail) where it makes contact with the blue plastic (around the outside edge of the case) and pull on the security tab when it begins to unstick.
And now that I've probably confused you, take a migraine pill ![]() |

The thin stickers are RFID and are hard to remove for more than one reason. If you like privacy trash them whenever possible on any item you buy.

Well my Chicken Little disc has one of those black square unrippable security tags pasted OVER the chapter list area. Nice. They make good use of the transparent case designing a custom inner cover and then they make it useless to the consumer. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand does.

Yeah, I can handle the security stickers on the outside. They're a pain but they come off pretty easily and a little WD-40, Goo-Gone or whatever will clean up any adhesive left behind. But it was the square sticker (rfid?) on the inside of The Descent that totally pissed me off. Good Lord that was a pain in the ass to get off. That was the first and only time I've had one of those. What an abomination.

I have a question that isn't really related to blu-ray, but does anyone know how to get the glue off of cases from those stickers they put on them. I've tried water and soap and they don't do a very good job. Anyone know a better way?
