Im sure Pirates 5, Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Star Wars 7, Avengers 2, Captain America 2, and Whatever Pixar movies are out in the next year or so, makes up for any budget woes Disney had with this movie

I like how the guy who plays the Lone Ranger doesn't even get billed first or have his name first. I know it's Johnny Depp, but really? Really? Might aswell call it Tonto: The Movie. Featuring The Lone Ranger.

Depp playing his wonderfully quirky, established character (this time in make-up!) heading exciting adventures to unchartered places. What on earth makes you think they're similar?

Looks great. I just hope it is Pirates 1 great and not Pirates 2-4 bad.

Yes, but they didn't keep it at a higher budget and they didn't bring it back to a higher budget.

Only 2 of those movies you've mentioned of are coming out in 2013, the rest of them are coming out in 2014 and others that come beyond that in 2015 or later. So, the ones that will come out beyond that in 2014 or later, don't count because they are not coming out in 2013, the same year that The Lone Ranger is being released to theaters. There is also Oz: The Great and Powerful that comes out in March 2013 that is also a Disney movie.

Keep in mind that a small film called The Avengers (maybe you've heard of it) helped offset the loss of John Carter.

That isn't what I'm talking about. It doesn't matter if your budget is lowered if you go over. You still went over what you were allotted. That's all I'm saying. It's already over $215 million, well over from what I've heard. Hopefully people go to see it so that it can make it's budget back.

I have a feeling it won't have any trouble in the box office, because it is a Disney/Bruckheimer movie with a great cast, a great story/plot, a great director, etc. If it were to have the budget that Pirates 3 had which was an estimated $300 million, then i'd be worried that it could flop, but since it doesn't i don't think that will be a problem.

Maybe with both movies combined they broke even.

I try to avoid talking about box office because it is irrelevant to how I enjoy or study films. John Carter had wretched trailers and marketing, but turned out to be a whole lot of fun. My father in law is confined to a hospital bed, and JC brought him to tears. He really connncted with it. I could care less how the film performed, it's a good film, and I'm glad I have it on Blu.

The only thing that worries me so far about The Lone Ranger is the 4th of July weekend release date. The last big-budget Western to stake out that date was the dreadful and bloated Wild Wild West. You don't want the public associating Lone Ranger with Wild Wild West. The marketing department has enough issues trying to sell this movie.

I loved 'John Carter' as well, so you aren't alone in that. It's one of my favorite movies of the year. Just a truly great pulp fiction adventure, it's too bad that everyone else seemed to avoid it.

If they associate TLR with the Wild Wild West, BELIEVE me, it won't be because of the July date...
If any fan complaints spring up about the movie, expect the words "Robot spider" to turn up frequently in fan reviews as an all-encompassing metaphor for director self-indulgence. And a not inaccurate one, at that.

Admitting a bias against Depp movies, now that I've seen the TV trailer I don't think I'll be seeing this one.
