hello guys I I'm in need of a audio setup, im curerntly using my tv speakers whih is pretty lame IK. I would really like an Onkyo Receiver i was looking at the 605, IK its not the Best but im not a huge audiophile either. i want something that will compliment my 1080P tv and my ps3. I really dont know much about the different types of audio like dts trueHd and lossless, just that it prolly sounds beeter than my tvs speakers.

it depends on budget and wether or not your considering future proofing with your purchase. the 605 will do what you want well with the ps3 but as far as future proofing i like the 705 for that because of the 7.1 analog out

Id go for the Integra DTR-5.8 if budget is big concerne. Its a $799.00 retail receiver but you can buy for less. They are Onkyos high end CI brand. Custom Integraters stand by Integra as well as another brand I have had a ton of experience and success with is Yamaha. Check out thier RXV861..

the htib? the hdmi doesnt support audio. says it needs a sepreate connection for audio. if your in the market for a new receiver from onkyo check out 605,705,805. they can at least decode the new hd audio

It plays a major part. What is your budget for speakers? You said you weren't an audiophile, which is fine, but you certainly want the most bang for your buck. I know a lot of people speak highly of Polk and Klipsch but I have no experience with either....... but budget will dictate the answers people will give you. I know there is an Onkyo HTIB that gives you the receiver you're looking at, plus speakers, so if you're not that enthralled by audio, you might want to take this approach.
