Amazon also has the 65" version for only 1499.00. same deal and the stand for that one is 399.00

I had a Hitachi 51" HD CRT which is now in the bedroom. My wife said it was too small for our home theater. That's all I needed to hear.
No more going to the movies except for a select couple of movies.
did you buy a warranty?

I didn't buy the warranty. I rarely buy them because the item is covered for a year by the manufacturer.

I have a Mits 73" DLP HDTV bought a couple years ago just sitting in my Garage because the Light engine went out. It is a huge paper weight. I have heard that it will cost about $1000 to $1500 to fix it. The original owner of the TV didn't get the extended warrenty and I believe that this failed right after it expired. He gave me the TV and just said pay to get it fixed. I thought that was cool, until I found how much it was to fix it.

These sets have mediocre PQ. They still use wobulation to cheat their way to 1080P with half the number of horizontal pixels compared to true 1920x1080 LCoS based RPTVs from Sony and JVC. If you like quantity over quality then the 73" is your TV.

Mediocre? Are you kidding me? If you consider this TV mediocre, what do you base it on? Did you own one?

I think maybe you're talking about the Toshiba DLP's. I have heard of that being the case with them.

I actually went into Several different Home Theatre Stores comparing the different 1080p RPTV choices, so I got to see this one sitting beside Sony's, JVC's, Samsung's and even Toshiba's(what a joke). After seeing what each of these looked like with Planet Earth Playing on them, all having been calibrated, I have to say the Samsung and Mitsubishi are a Virtual tie for the best PQ, followed by JVC & then Sony. The Toshiba was so far behind I had to ask if it was a 720p screen or if perhaps there was something wrong with the display model.

If you're referring to the bulb module that you can change yourself, you can purchase them for about 170.00, and it shows you right in the manual how to change it out. Just google that TV model number bulb.

I have tweaked mine a little differently from the factory settings. There are 4 brightness picture modes. factory setting was set at brilliant. I set it to natural. I personally think it looks better that way. Also that will extend the life of the bulb considerably.
Also the contrast was set at 100%. I turned that down a bit. Left everything else as it was. Running Blurays at 1080p. Most of the stuff we watch looks better on this TV than when I saw it in the movies.

I have a mitsubishi wd-65734 65 inch dlp and love it. I have been screwing around with the settings, I usually watch it in a lighted room and am wondering if some of you guys might give me a hint on what settings you are using.
Currently I use natural, for base picture setting
Darkfield off
contrast 24-28
brightness 22-24
color 28-32
tint even
Perfect color and tint I left on factory settings,
any help would be appreciated

I got the Mitsubishi 60" DLP model last month and love it. But I had to tweak the settings a lot in the beginning to get the picture to my liking.
My settings are similar to yours, but I have the Brightness a lot higher. My screen is extremely dark if I have it below 35.

The 73" Mits is my dream TV but the wife said my 65" CRT had to die first before I got a new one. I do have the 57" Mits DLP in my Movie/Game room and the picture is excellent.
