'Death Sentence' proved that he could handle action. Now it's just about going bigger. Trust me, Diesel and Lin were probably very involved in picking the director of the film, and there's no way they would have given it to someone who could potentially wreck the franchise. This is the studio's biggest series right now, they're getting a guy who can do a good job quickly, without cracking under the pressure. He'll do just fine.

Oh, the third Mummy film didn't work for a number of reasons! Maria Bello was the least of its problems! I don't agree with blaming the actors for the failure or success of a film (creatively speaking, I am not talking about the box office). The problems began with the script.

And you can't say "your evidence" is a film you didn't like. I didn't like it either, but that doesn't mean it's a failure. Many people liked it, and I think it's wrong to use a film you didn't like as "evidence" to support your own conclusions.

I think he mainly meant that Hangover 3 was pretty unfunny and would be no competition at all...even if 3 wasn't going to be the last.

You're right, and I could be wrong and I shouldn't jump to conclusions...BUT, I think this is different, because this film is already well into development, and Wan knows how to work quickly. Maybe I'm just overly optimistic, but I think the movie will be fine.

I like Wan, his movies have all been great imo.

Death Sentence has to b my favorite, i also enjoyed Dead Silence.

Waiting on Insidious 2

I feel like this will prove that he could do big budget films.

Lol well i wouldn't know that (haven't seen it) but after how it performed plus i wouldn't think everyone would come back for another one. They've milked it as much as the could already.

they're always together would be disappointed if he didnt......not really lol but i wonder if he'll use him

Doubtful. Sung has already said this was the end for his character. He's played him five times now (Better Luck Tomorrow, Fast and Furious, Fast Five, Furious 6, and Tokyo Drift), and we've seen the character evolve and grow, and reach a natural conclusion point. I think it's safe to say that this will be the end of the character, and his death will spark where this series will go from here.
