OK One more.
I have dual boot to XP 32bit, and XP 64 bit, does the Folding @ home take advantage of 64bit will it help my new team mates if i use 64bit. I generally run everything off my 32bit though. But I can adapt. Are there settings you can recommend to make the most of my machine. There werent many, I checked the box for the 5MB thing. I guess that is all there is really, the slider in the top section was all the way to the right.the save feature was about 10 minute interval. Last edited by pmac; 04-04-2008 at 10:58 PM. |

So I am currently working on this item...It is 0/400 frames. the first frame is estimated to take 29 minutes. Looks like it is saying q 9 day estimate to finnish. Is that for a single protien. Sorry for so many questions but I dont have a clue about any of this and just want to understand it all since it is on the computer.

In any case disregard the 29min/9days stuff. F@H client assumes 30minutes a frame for the first frame by default. It will adjust to show true productivity/completion time as it progresses. |

Well I am confused. Because it is giving me an error.
Work unit has an invalid address. Any help would be appreciated. This is running in a DOS window. ______________________________ Attempting to get work packet Connecting to assignment server Successful: Assigned to (0.0.0.0) Work unit has invalid address |

don't run the graphical client, it is a processor hog and won't net you squat
Stick with the command window client and we'll help you with any problems...sometimes the server is not responding to work packet requests...usually during the time when it is upgrading the results. Just let it look for a while and see if it gets a unit |

The drivers for the SATA hardware for the laptop I'm typing on right now weren't included on the WINXP SP2 CD which caused the HD not to recognize and subsequently I couldn't install. Had to burn a custom OS CD with the drivers included and everything went as normal after that. Good luck. |

Correct I am in the BIOS screen adjusting the date/time and the computer powers down after about 2min of being turned on. I have all fans installed and just the factory heatsink for now, will get a better one soon. I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 750gb internal SATA and a Samsung 20x dvd +/- r pata. Everything is brand spanking new. Reading says I dont need to adjust the jumper settings on either of the products. It doesnt seem like i am getting power to either. Both are plugged in to the psu. IDK if it is a heat issue as its a stock heatsink and as a setting the computer shuts off at a certian temp. The house team is about 67F, was doing this at night so no sun in a well ventalated room.

You said that it doesn't seam like HDD & CDD are getting power (no LED activity?)... this would be a very logical explanation. Faulty PSU could also be the reason behind the 2-minutes shutdowns... |
