OK One more.
I have dual boot to XP 32bit, and XP 64 bit, does the Folding @ home take advantage of 64bit will it help my new team mates if i use 64bit. I generally run everything off my 32bit though. But I can adapt.
Are there settings you can recommend to make the most of my machine. There werent many, I checked the box for the 5MB thing. I guess that is all there is really, the slider in the top section was all the way to the right.the save feature was about 10 minute interval.

There shouldn't be any significant difference between 32bit vs. 64bit. So use 32bit since you run everything on it anyway. For your quad, install two "Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008 SMP client console version 5.91 beta6" clients from http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download

Here are the detailed installation instructions:

So I am currently working on this item...It is 0/400 frames. the first frame is estimated to take 29 minutes. Looks like it is saying q 9 day estimate to finnish. Is that for a single protien. Sorry for so many questions but I dont have a clue about any of this and just want to understand it all since it is on the computer.
Thanks guys when you get a chance to answer some or all of my silly questions.

Regards,
Paul

If that is on your quad, then you installed the wrong client (see my previous post).
In any case disregard the 29min/9days stuff. F@H client assumes 30minutes a frame for the first frame by default. It will adjust to show true productivity/completion time as it progresses.

Don't worry about it. I feel the same way when setting it up on a PC. I've been working on that for the last couple of days. I think I may finally got it figured out. I was confused about where to install the stuff at first. Finally learned that you had to put the client in a different directory & then run the app, set parameters & fold. Really not too hard. Server is running on both cores, Will mess with laptop tonight.

I'm just glad the PS3 is pretty brainless to run

Well I am confused. Because it is giving me an error.
Work unit has an invalid address.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is running in a DOS window.

0.0.0.0 could be if Stanford have no work units to distribute (unlikely); bad installation; or network problems. Let's backtrack your installation... could you describe it to me step by step?

I got to this step
If you see this twice, MPI is working
If you see this twice, MPI is working
then I started fah.exe
starts up no problem.

Attempt to get work failed and no other work to do
Waiting before retry.

PS3 is working swell though

Whos idea was it to run the DOS version.
Why don't I run the gui that was working before i tried the 5.91?
Too much of a pain. I will install a gui version

It's not a DOS version - it just does not have GUI. The GUI client will give VERY little points compared to this one. Have patience... we'll figure it out
Could you please post the text inside your client.cfg file from the folding folder? Are you behind a firewall?

I hope that will fix your problem.

don't run the graphical client, it is a processor hog and won't net you squat

Stick with the command window client and we'll help you with any problems...sometimes the server is not responding to work packet requests...usually during the time when it is upgrading the results. Just let it look for a while and see if it gets a unit

Most likely the OS CD you're using doesn't have SATA drivers to recognize the drive. Make sure to download the latest BIOS firmware for your board to make sure it recognizes your hardware. Had this happen to a server in which it wouldn't see the Adaptec RAID card I had on the PCI bus and the BIOS update did the trick.
The drivers for the SATA hardware for the laptop I'm typing on right now weren't included on the WINXP SP2 CD which caused the HD not to recognize and subsequently I couldn't install. Had to burn a custom OS CD with the drivers included and everything went as normal after that.

Good luck.

Do you mean it shuts down while you in the bios screen, or on an attempt to boot??
What kind of HDD & CD drives do you have (used/new? sata/pata? external/internal?)

Correct I am in the BIOS screen adjusting the date/time and the computer powers down after about 2min of being turned on. I have all fans installed and just the factory heatsink for now, will get a better one soon. I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 750gb internal SATA and a Samsung 20x dvd +/- r pata. Everything is brand spanking new. Reading says I dont need to adjust the jumper settings on either of the products. It doesnt seem like i am getting power to either. Both are plugged in to the psu. IDK if it is a heat issue as its a stock heatsink and as a setting the computer shuts off at a certian temp. The house team is about 67F, was doing this at night so no sun in a well ventalated room.

All components you listed should be easily recognized by p5k-e mobo. Thermal shutdown is highly unlikely, but you can check it - in the BIOS there have to be a screen with real-time CPU and system temps (on gigabyte mobo's it's called PC Health Monitor), so just by looking at it you'll see thermal run-up if there is any.
You said that it doesn't seam like HDD & CDD are getting power (no LED activity?)... this would be a very logical explanation. Faulty PSU could also be the reason behind the 2-minutes shutdowns...
