Has anyone heard if they are going to air the new episodes of Happy Endings that were scheduled to air this past Friday that were preempted due to the news coverage? TV Guide's website shows that this week they're planning on showing a new episode followed by the season finale, so I'm afraid they're not going to air last week's episodes.

This makes it seem like the episodes were just pushed back a week.

Apparently the episodes were up on Hulu for a bit on Saturday, but were taken down. I think they would have stayed up if there were no plans to air them.

Hopefully they do just move the episodes back a week. On May 3 ABC has scheduled a repeat of Shark Tank in Happy Ending's time slot so it's not like moving the episodes back a week would screw up their schedule.

Edit: ABC has confirmed last week's scheduled episodes will air this Friday and the season's final 2 episodes will air on May 3.

Ack. I was so preoccupied by the fate of Community, that I didn't realize that ABC canceled Happy Endings!!

If it was one show or the other, I'd honestly rather have HE continue on.... Gah, I reeeeeeaaaalllyyyy hope USA will pick this up for a fourth season.

Seriously ABC you need to get your crap in order. Guess their stupid Z list "celeb" show about diving was much better. TBS or someone else needs to pick this up! Come on, you did it for Cougar Town.

Happy Endings was one of the lowest-rated shows on any of the broadcast networks and lower than some CW shows. As great as the show was it was too quirky to ever be a network success and we were lucky to even get a third season. Hopefully some cable network picks this up and the show continues but I certainly won't fault ABC for canceling the show.

Well, it was actually doing pretty decently during the Wednesday night block for the 2011-2012 season (though it did fizzle out a bit in the end).

I think a lot of the blame for the low ratings this season resides with ABC. First, it started off by going against two other sitcoms on NBC and FOX, and then they decided to air it two nights a week, followed by a long break, only to have two episodes aired back-to-back on Friday of all nights.

This may end up being a blessing. This show wasn't going to last very long even if it got renewed one more time. If it lands on USA or another cable network like that, it will likely have a long life.

Season 2 started out with great ratings, but then ABC kept airing new episodes while the rest of the Wednesday lineup was on hiatus. Modern Family is the big draw that night, so to air new episodes when that show is on repeats is just dumb. And then they quickly wrapped up that season to shove The B in 23 into that slot. Moving it to Tuesdays, then Sundays, then Fridays definitely didn't help either. I really hope USA picks it up. The show definitely still has life in it, though I really don't like that
[Show spoiler]they broke up Dave and Alex again. I hope the plan isn't to explore Dave and Penny, because I just don't like that. They're more like siblings and it's a little too Joey/Rachel on Friends. It's just not right.

I have a difficult time believing this brilliant show could be dead. I seriously think USA should pick it up. Would do much better on cable, especially paired with the syndicated Modern Family episodes. Plus it would be a bonus that rather than spend money developing a new show they could have one that already has everything in place. This show was too smart for network TV.

According to Deadline USA has decided not to pick up Happy Endings. USA supposedly loved the show but didn't want to make a large financial investment when the show's ratings on ABC were so poor. Sony is still trying to find a distributor for the show but it's not looking good.

Oh we'll. It was fun while it lasted. Hope they release the complete 3rd season on DVD at least.

While I kind of get it, it's still a shame. USA was likely the show's best bet. One thing I will say though is that the show had a dedicated fan base (small or not), and cable seems like a good fit for that, but whatever.

Terrible news.

I was so hopeful about USA picking it up...

It would be nice if Amazon or Netflix could pick it up, but while it does have a dedicated fanbase, it isn't nearly as large as shows like AD or Community.

It's been done, was really a huge pipe dream at this point that it would get picked up after the horrific ratings it had this season, granted I blame a huge portion of that on the time slots it got and the episode airing schedule by ABC.

I know....... Sony was looking for another network to pick it up and they stopped. Other shows that were cancelled for bad ratings were able to get picked up by another network or return for the summer. Now it's just official.
