I like Identificstion a hell of alot more than other people, but I think you may want to rent it first. However, the soundtrack features a couple new wave songs (OMD). So you may like it just for that.

Full thoughts later. Watching Tora, Tora, Tora for the first time hope it's not as dreadful as Ebert made it out to be.
Whoa, OMD is featured on an Antonioni film? Holy smokes. I actually am quite fond of that band. I recently purchased the OMD Live BD (https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/OMD-L...Blu-ray/68625/) and now I may just have to blind buy Identification of a Woman.

I remember that famous long shot in The Passenger by the way. It was mandatory viewing in one of my film classes.

Vampyr upgrade (Dreyer)
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (Wiene)
Freaks (Browning)
Eraserhead (Lynch)
Hour of the Wolf (Bergman)
Eyes Without a Face upgrade(Franju)
The Tenant (Polanski)
Posession (Zulawski)
I Walked with a Zombie (Tourneur)
Night of the Demon (Tourneur)
The Thing from Another World (Hawks/Nyby)

Thoughts?
For what it's worth, I put The Thing From Another World in Criterion's suggestion box a while back and got a "Thank you for your interest....." reply. It certainly needs a Blu-ray upgrade and extras and it doesn't seem that Warner's or whoever owns it is doing anything.

You may have to. Let me just say this, it's placement in the film couldn't have been more effective. Absolutely chill inducing.

Although, I must admit that I'm no OMD original fan. The first time I heard their music was on the Pretty in Pink soundtrack. Been hooked ever since.

Just popped in Terry Zwigoff's Art School Confidential. I'm a big fan of Crumb, Ghost World and Ghost World, so I hope I an not disappointed.

What are everyone's thoughts on "The Killing"? I finally got around to finishing it but never heard much talk about this Kubrick film.

THE KILLING is a pretty good heist film with great performances, but I prefer KILLER'S KISS, which is a bonus on the same disc and has a much more effective noir atmosphere even if its ultra-low budget makes it not quite as technically polished (mainly due to the post dubbed soundtrack).

LOVE The Killing. Sterling Hayden is one of those types who has disappeared from today's cinema land scape. A shame. Superb transfer as well. As mentioned earlier Killer's Kiss is excellent in its own right.

Agreed! One of Kubrick's most accesible and fun films. It keeps you invested the whole time in the plot and the performances are top-notch. The ending is just priceless!

I'm strongly thinking of getting The Killing during the sale. It's a good film and I've never seen Killer's Kiss.

Killer's Kiss is probably one of the best supplements out there. Earlier films are often interesting only as historical oddities or for perspective but KK really stands on its own. It's definitely rough (and the dubbed audio is maddening at times) but well worth watching.

And The Killing is outstanding. It doesn't get as much buzz lately but people were rightly thrilled when it was announced.

Best supplement? The conversation with Garreth Brown, the inventor of the Seadicam, found on the Blow Out release.

Nice! I am a huge OMD fan, and I saw them during their reunion tour a couple il years back. The new OMD album, Engilsh Electric, does justice to their old stuff in a great way.

I'm thinking of buying Identification of a Woman for this reason.

Not Criterion related but:

I just finished watching Letter From An Unknown Woman for the first time and absolutely loved it. Sometimes older romances tend to lean too heavily on the sappy side (Senso) and others tend to do the same thing but manage to hit all the right notes and pull you in (Letter and Brief Encounter). The film could definitely use further restorative work on both the audio and video and the lack of subtitles was disappointing, but I'm not complaining. Still glad to see it at all.

First of all, that's your opinion, not holy writ from on high. Second, what about A Sense of History from Topsy-Turvy?
