Yeah, I like the steelbook but I'll probably stick with the phaser CE.

Definitely, getting this steelbook in addition to the Phaser collectible set and another steelbook with the 3D disc included. In the end, I will probably sell the BD from the Phaser set.

Yep, so did I. After I posted that, I thought perhaps it could be delayed due to the toy getting "approved" or something like that...but, clearly, not the case here. A nice little release here, IMO! Can't wait.

I'd bet that you would be able to find this in stores and should thus not have a large problem preordering it in two weeks time.

Bummed that the Vengeance isn't the same size as my Target exclusive, and as I already have two JJ-prises I don't want to pay for the dinky underdetailed HW version. This steel's existence means that any other US store exclusives are probably gonna be bonus discs with alternate artwork unless someone surprises us with a 3D + 2D steel, which I'd bet is unlikely.

never pre-ordered from WalMart...

if the price drops between now and release date, does my card get refunded?
ppl have stated that your card gets charged right away, and not at time of shipping like Amazon...

Based on that video, the ship replica looks quite pathetic in quality compared to the fully die cast version released with the first film. It's made of plastic and it's not worth it. The steelbook is ugly too, so that's not helping the cause either.

If you are talking about the Enterprise that was released with the Amazon exclusive set... That was a "high quality" QMx replica (I enclose in quotes because it wasn't very greatly detailed either, and IMO is kind of blah) which is aimed at the higher end collecting market. That's why that set was $90 and up. If you want a Vengeance to go with it, good news for you -- QMx is making one which will probably be at least $100 (fortunately it looks a lot more detailed than that Enterprise was). This time, the Blu set with a QMx product is the phaser set.

Personally, I think the Target exclusive plastic Enterprise for the first film was far cooler than that QMx replica. Definitely better detailed.

Meanwhile, look at it this way. Walmart is having a SteelBook release (yes, I see you called it ugly, but put that aside for a moment) and happens to be throwing in an MSRP ~$15 toy-quality version of the Vengeance, all for $40 (probably lower by release day). A toy that has a high enough demand on the secondary market right now you may be able to make $25+ back from by reselling, if not more someday.

Personally, I may not be getting this set after all; just preordered the Spanish SB, which you probably hate even more and I tend to like even more!

Apart from the $7000 QMx replica, the Target case is more detailed than practically any other JJ-prise available.

Actually, as of right now, that one is in 2nd place and is far more attractive. My favourite so far is the Holland steelbook. But, I would still prefer something better for design.

I would prefer just a steelbook for around $25, but I will probably jump on this. I like to support U.S. steel releases as much as I can.
