. I like my horror "slow burn" style, but unfortunately I thought Conjuring was filled with too much incident. It's very much like Insidious.

Yeah, the real doll doesn't look that creepy, but the one used in the film gives me chills.

Still though...I'd stay away from both of 'em lol Just to be safe

I'll only buy this if Target does exclusive slipcovers. One with Ed Warren, one with Lorraine Warren, and the other of Carolyn holding up the match.

[Show spoiler]The one part with Annabelle on the woman's lap and the dolls head turning slowly creeped me the hell out.

Okay, big rant coming but also another topic which I would like to hear some other people's thoughts on. Only read if you've seen the movie I guess.

The part where
[Show spoiler]one of the daughters wakes up after having her leg tugged and she's staring into the pitch black shadow behind the door with sheer TERROR made me sweat with anxiety. Really believable performance by that girl. Job well done.

That reminds me, her sister who eventually wakes up and puts her glasses on pissed me off during that scene. Not her specifically, just everyone in horror history who does what she does.

Someone is staring at something like they're literally about to have a heart attack, crap themselves and pass out at the same time and the other person just looks at the scared person for like 6 hours asking "what's wrong?" before they bother to look in the general direction where the person who looks like they're about to die is looking.

I get why the director instructs this. It causes anxiety amongst the audience because we're expecting/dreading that something is going to abruptly scare the idiot who can't turn their head a few inches. It sure made me anxious. Even more so when she WALKS INTO WHAT I WAS ASSUMING WAS GOING TO BE HER IMPENDING DOOM. But it also flat out makes me angry.

Does anyone seriously react that way? I know I don't. I react like an absolute idiot the second I notice something off in someones facial expression. On the few occasions someone has gotten a fright from something behind me, I quite literally leap out of my skin and start attacking whatever may or may not be behind me. Twice there was nothing behind me. Third time a friend was behind me and they took an unskilled karate chop to the shoulder with full force. There hasn't been a third attempt to scare me.

I react the same way if something small and odd touches my skin. I beat the living crap out of that part of my body without even thinking or looking at it until I can't feel that area anymore to ensure that whatever is touching me IS NO LONGER TOUCHING ME and is probably ceasing to exist.

... My question for you guys is, how do you and the people you know react to those kind of moments/facial expressions?

Maybe that's the normal way people react and I've just watched too many dark films/I'm very intuitive and I just immediately "know" the facial expressions people have and what they mean.

I'm one of those people who has to go outside to investigate when I hear a noise so yes people like that do exist.

Not the same thing. I also often investigate but I also quickly come up with many different possibilities as to where it came from and who or what may have made it in my mind to mentally prepare myself for the worst if it was to come to that.

Usually it's just a pan I've poorly stacked on the washing rack falling off or a possum outside causing a ruckus but if, on the off chance, I'm dealing with a home invasion, I want to be mentally and physically prepared. If it's a ghost...
Me: *drops to a ball* "Don't kill me! I've got so much to give!"

I'm talking about people who don't even consider there could be a very real danger in the very room or very near by. Am I just paranoid? Maybe. I've been told that. But I'll be damned if I'm going to be caught off guard if there's a dangerous presence (living OR dead) in my house. It's just an automatic assumption for me. If something feels, looks or sounds off, my mind just jumps into danger mode.

I suppose that comes from how I was raised. To always hope for the best but prepare for the absolute worst. And unless you're incredibly naive, there's some pretty damn horrible things that happen in every day life that people aren't prepared for because "you hear about it happening but you never think it'll happen to you" and then it does. And you're dead. Because you JUST WOULDN'T LOOK WHERE YOUR SCARED SISTER WAS LOOKING. haha

I don't believe in ghosts so I would investigate if someone I knew was scared.

I'd love a digibook release with a worn, plain black bible style cover and "The Conjuring" in it's yellow font used in the film on it.

Pages inside the digibook could include anecdotes, stills taken during production that have been aged to look like they're from the 70's and these pages could also be padded with passages related to evil from the bible to give it a more "book" appearance.

... Like that will ever happen lol

Day one blind buy. I just hope they have a feature length, quality featurette like the ones in Zodiac and A Haunting in Connecticut.

I need a steelbook or digibook announcement for this. If Evil Dead could get one, this sure as hell can too (and it deserves it way more, imo).

Another movie like this based on a true story that scared me to death is The Entity. That case is incredibly scary true story. Its on Martin Scorsese's list of most scary movies.
