I just read this and was about to post the link as well. As I said earlier, I find it hard to believe that the Astros are making that much money.

Simmons is the guy I'd immediately sign to a long-term deal. His defense alone is worth an extension and if the Braves change his swing he's a perennial All-Star.

It would kill the fans, but Freeman is not worth a big deal at the current moment.
. Kimbrel is the best reliever in the history of the game. . Hell he isn't the best active reliever in the history of the game. What a jokester. I hadn't laughed that hard in awhile.

I must have missed that when I read it. He does have the potential to be.... but he needs another 12-15 years of this kind of dominance which is ultra-rare.

But, he is the best active reliever right now. Not the historically best active reliever, but for 2011-2013, he is the best.

Word going around is Miguel Cabrera just went down with an apparent Hammy Injury

Quote:

Miguel Cabrera left Wednesday's game against the Athletics with an apparent left hamstring injury.
Cabrera grabbed at the back of his left leg after an awkward slide into second base. He's been limping around for weeks and has still managed to continue raking, but it might be time for the slugger to take a few consecutive days off. The Tigers will provide an update on the injury soon.

Not so fast. But boy did they come close...Tigers score 4 in the bottom of the 9th of the fourth game to only lose three of four...

Tigers never should have lost 3/4 to the A's

Check the numbers, Kimbrel's three plus seasons are an extended stretch of dominance that no reliever has ever matched in the history of the game, including Mariano. A 292 ERA+ over 220 innings. He's redefining what a pitcher is capable of as a reliever. The only knock one could lodge would be throwing him up against relievers of the '70s, who pitched more innings in their big seasons. By all the important rate stats, he's already the best closer in history next to Eric Gagne's steroid-aided peak.

Last time I checked a body of work of 16 years > 3 years lol. 11 ER in 15 years of playoffs. Kimbrel will never be as good as Mariano. Period.

You can't know that he won't be as good, if not better. He's been better head-to-head over the first 3 years, but there's lots of time left.

Comparing each man's first three seasons as a closer Kimbrel's numbers are better. Not sure how that's debatable. But unlike others I won't play fortune teller and predict what happens 10 years into the future.

That's 1 game. Tell me when has Kimbrel closed any games in the World Series. This isn't even a debate. 42 saves with a 0.70 ERA in the playoffs. I could care less about regular season performance. Playoffs are what really count and where people forge legacies. I'm not saying Kimbrel isn't good, but he is no where near Mariano.

Again, you're talking career. I'm merely comparing first 3 seasons as a closer. Let's not compare apples and oranges. Rivera is likely to remain the best closer of all time for a very long time. I'm not debating that. Though there was a lot of luck involved. No other closer in history was blessed with the talent around him to make the playoffs as often as Rivera. Had Rivera been on any other team he might have made a WS one or two times, but that's about it.

You'd think with this ability to read the future that you'd have given up on the Browns and Jays long ago.

Leave the Jays out of this!

Haven't we suffered enough this season?

He's a Leafs fan too. Browns just won a second Super Bowl... in Baltimore.
