Default Denon for sale..bad news

http://www.audioholics.com/news/indu...enwood-bidding

I work for Best Buy and I still think this is an awful thing. Can you imagine D&M run by Best Buy. Their standards would go down significantly. However, if they don't touch any of their workers, just simply own D&M, then it could be interesting. Anyways, thought everyone should know. Lets hope this doesnt happen, or maybe Harmon will buy it.

This is not so cool , Man I wish I could by Philips 12% of the shares so it could'nt go through. Dang I work for Philips & I'm still pissed that they sold the Marantz name off to D&M holdings .They made the name live again , I wonder what Saul Marantz would think today , Philips did this with the big Music label they bought too. Sold it out. man what wrong with these share holders ..

With the fate of so many of the top brands of audio gear on the line, it's no wonder that the AV crowd is watching this one closely.
And I'm one of them. It will be really interesting to see what will happen to the AV market once the holding is sold.

God, If Best Buy Bought them out, the Quality will surely decline, just so they could sell their Crappy Warranties on them.... Which nobody really needs on a Denon Receiver

Exactly.... We need a smaller Retailer to Buy them if a Retailer is going to do it at all.... Or no Retailer at all, Yamaha could even do it, their Receivers are....Goodish

I wonder if D&M is responsible for that hideous Horizon line from Boston. Welcome to the low-end Denon!

Wheres the evidence that Best Buy supposedly means a decrease in quality?

Just curious as to why everyone is in a panic...over a BID.

That being said though Denon is way too expensive in my opinion and even though I know its top quality stuff I still won't buy it. Id' rather get more bang for my buck.

How many people actually buy Denon or Marantz products anyways. If the stuff they sell is so good and worth the price then they shouldn't have to sell their stock.

Just my opinion...don't shoot me please.

if the product goes sour there will be no point to buy it, even if I get an extreme discount on it at BB

Denon is actually a very popular brand to those interested in quality components and sells well. What brand do you consider to offer more quality and performance for the buck?

I agree that they have good quality, performance and sell very well, but if Best Buy bought them the quality would likely drop because they would use the name and make it for less. And making things for less "usually" means a sacrifice in quality parts.

The only reason D&M would put itself up for sale, would be if they are losing money. So, whoever purchased them would have to make it profitable, which means either keeping existing prices and lower quality, or maintaining quality and increasing price. Or both.

Neither are good for us.
