I did know what you meant but bear in mind that a high end 2 channel set up would probably not have a sub-out, hence hooking up a sub would be difficult.

For 2 channel, not much matches (in my opinion) the 800's in that price range....

Oooooo, you really made me cringe there.

My eye started twitching.

You did preface it by saying "in my opinion" though. I'll let you slide.

Only kidding.

Of course I should have prefaced it by saying, "although I've listened to many different speakers, there are a vast number of speakers I haven't heard"

I'm sure you've crunched a lot of numbers, but I'd get an in-home audition of the 802's (but be careful...that's flirting with the point of no return in regards to audio bliss )
I have a Rel T2 sub, but of course there will be no reason for that sub when the big daddies, 802's are in the house. It' being sold.

I still listen to my music in 2 channel stereo, and that is definitely my preference. I'm a HUGE B&W fan, and the 802s would certainly provide an incredible experience. I would go for it with the ultimate goal of building a 5.1 or 6.1 setup from the 800 series. A surround setup based on the 800 series would provide the ultimate experience.
I don't have to sell all my gear, but most will go since they won't be efficient or complementary to the 802's. In addition, the more money I get from selling my gently used gear, the less I have to come out of pocket. I plan on using the MC501 monoblocks to power them. Though a pair of MC252 bi-amped would work as well. Whichever I get a great deal on.

Truthfully, my heart lies in 2 channel. I visited a friend of mine late last night, and he too recently got rid of his surround set-up in exchange for a more upper end 2 channel system. He has an entire MBL set-up, so listening to some music last night left me.....

My rational is that if I do want to dive back in later, I can easily add a pair of 805s for multi-channel a center and a sub, but for now, I think 2 channel will do. The N802 is alot of speaker. I've had alot of gear over the years, but this is the first step i've taken with something this dramatic and expensive. A leap of faith, but i've auditioned, listened and lusted for these speakers for years. I was a broke college student then, so I couldn't afford it. I can now. You only live once right.

I like all the finishes. Rosenut and Cherry are nice, but something about the black just looks so nice.

depends what's in your house I guess..... We have dark leather, and a lot of wood molding etc. so Rosenut just fit perfectly. Plus it gives it a nice look with the grills on.

I have red leather and cream colored walls, so I could go either way. My CM7's were rosenut, kinda itching for another finish.

You really can't go wrong with any color of B&W speaker. They are very pretty speakers.

I gotta wonder what you folks do for a living that you can even consider spending $14,000 on a couple of speakers... and how do I get a piece of the action??

Yeah, I know. I was messin' a bit.

If someone else had said it, it would have been ON ( ), but you know what you are talking about and don't talk out of your kiester.

The 802D is $14K. The N802 is $8K. I'm getting the N802, doesn't have the diamond tweeter.

Besides, most people don't pay retail.

I'm a web-cam *****.....

Honestly though.... I don't have the 800's, I have the 700s so my speakers weren't quite that much for all of them, but to answer your question, "I work" I didn't pay much attention in college, and it closed a few doors, but working hard pays off to prove just because you slacked in college you're not a moron!!! Plus I married a very successful woman who I love very much

Well I have two rooms one is a HT with 7.1 and the other is music only with high end two channel.

My two channel setup also has more room treatments to improve phase response.

In your price range I am not sure two setups is not a better way to go.

I wanted (still do) a dedicated 2-channel, but can't justify the expense.... I'd love to have it though (guy on Craigslist with his ad for the Thiels about pushed me over the edge!!!)

If you're not married to the 802's, here's an alternative which is a lot more speaker for not a lot more money:
http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls....ull&1214008485
http://www.revelspeakers.com/product...asp?product=28

$16K new, and these have only 200 hours on them. No sales tax, either.

If you're not familiar with them, Revel's are very highly regarded.
