hello go to the "settings" tab on menu. i think it's on the far left. once you are in that tab, scroll down to display settings. under display, you should see an option for setting your video output resolution. select that and choose hdmi, and then automatic. the ps3 will automatically change to your tv's maximum resolution.

It would be useful to know the model number of your TV as well, as knowing its native resolution and how it handles things like RGB Full/Limited or Y Pb/Pr Cb/Cr output will affect what settings will be optimal. EDIT: Also, you don't really want your TV to look like it did in Best Buy. Those sets are often set in "torch" mode, with overly high contrast, and too much brightness and sharpness. They look good to the untrained eye, but they're set up to be eyecatching, not necessarily pretty - and certainly not the way the movie should look. |

Here is the spec page on your TV:
http://www.consumer.philips.com/cons...+47PFL5432D-37 One thing I would recommend is turning OFF the Digital Natural Motion feature of that set. If it works like similar technologies in other TVs, it can cause all kinds of icky artifacting as well as weird motion blur. As mentioned above, definitely CALIBRATE your set. |

Agreed, and if you've got Netflix or another rental thing going on you can rent it. That way you don't have to buy a disc you're only going to use once.
