So Gomez flipped his bat and started a jog instead of a full haul ass around the bases... if anyone should be upset at him, it should be his team. He could have very possibly given up an inside the park homer.

But then for Cole to go over and start swearing at him and to confront him, was just wrong. Though Gomez had no right coming off 3rd base to retaliate, there was no need for Cole to say a damn thing, which wouldn't have brought Gomez off the bag.

The Brewer that's going to suffer the biggest fine/suspension will probably be Martin Maldanado, as he threw a complete blind side punch on to one of Pirates.

If anything, these players ALL need to recognize that everything they do is being watched, especially at game time.

Cry baby Cole just needed to let it go. Gomez's heat should have come from his team, not the opposing team.

Not saying what he did was right, but what McCann did certainly wasn't right.

But there is a difference in what Gomez did. In the one yesterday, he was trotting to first and then it hit and he started running. In the one last year, he walked half way to first staring down the pitcher and yelling at him.

Amazing how little media attention this got. Getting to 500 home runs used to be one of the biggest individual achievements in sports. I remember this used to be a huge deal and that they'd show every at-bat by players that were at 499. Now thanks to the steroid era people don't care anymore.

Jeff Samardzija pitched 7.1 innings and gave up 2 earned runs, and left with a 5-2 lead, but the Cubs pen blew it so he remains at 0-2 despite a 1.53 ERA.

Pineda was just ejected for having what it appears to be pine tar on his neck. According to the MLB rules 802B, he's going to be suspended. They really need to change the rule about pitcher not being able to use pine tar. It's only to have a better grip. Not to have the ball come out slippery (ala vasaline).
