Come on, though. People talk differently in a lot of films/plays/TV. How many times have you, IRL, found yourself in a conversation even remotely resembling something written by Mamet or Sorkin, for instance? No one talks like that.

NOTE: I'm not comparing the quality of the writing here to Mamet or Sorkin. I'm just saying that the argument, "That's not how people actually speak," can be applied to all sorts of work.
