That would be just like them Hollywood types, make you like a character and then
[Show spoiler]have the Joker throw them off a building!

As for who's hotter. I'd do either one and make my girlfriend watch.... oh, that's nasty (in my Cleveland from Family Guy impersonation).

No, I'm kiddin... I'd totally let her join in.

Nah, they need to reboot. Spiderman 3 was a poor excuse for a Spiderman movie. The new Goblin looked liked he belonged in the Xgames on ESPN rather than from a comicbook............

I have to disagree with some of you. I was split when they cast Tobey as Peter. He just wasn't Peter Parker, but he brought a credibility to the film when comic book movies needed creditability. He was one of those actors that critics felt could do no wrong. But he just didn't fit as Peter. I accepted him because he's a good actor (never liked Dunst as MJ).

Now I think Spider-man will be fine. As long as the story is good. That's what it all boils down to. If McGuire were to do Spider-man 4 that was worse than 3 that would be that.

If Marvel has more influence in these than they did in the first 3, then I'm sure it will be done right, Tobey or not.

My point was; Spider-man is bigger than Tobey McGuire.

You know who can replace Kristen Dunst...no other than Amy Adams. Milo Ventimiglia should be the one to replace Tobey Maguire. My choice for director would be Kevin Lima.

I personally hated all three spiderman movies (to each his own).... but I think it would be a mistake to have 4 and 5 with any other spiderman other than toby

I really didn't care for any of the Spiderman movies either. I think that Tobey Maquire is way too androgynous to play any kind of tough guy, even a reluctant one.
I think that the guy from the Apple commercials and Live Free or Die Hard would be a much better choice. He's still an unlikely hero as I guess SM is supposed to be, yet he can be witty and he's not at all effeminate.

Meh... Spiderman 1 was decent, Spiderman 2 was good, but Spiderman 3 was so god awful I've kind of lost interest. IMO it's going to take some amazing writing and directing for Spiderman 4-5 to not go the way of the original Batman 3-4. I don't have a whole lot of faith in that, b/w the actor switching (complete continuity breaker) and the last movie.

Dammit Jasonbird. You beat my exclusive by a whole damn day. I shall have my revenge.

On topic...half my hopes for Spidey 4 have been answered by this (replacing Dunst being slightly more crucial). I was, after all, the one that got all excited with that stupid April Fool's prank about the guy from Buffy replacing Maguire (not for the replacement, but for the replaced). But I also realize the biggest problem with the SM franchise is in the writing. In the second movie, Doc Ock throws a bag of coins at Spider-Man, who snags it with a web, throws it back and says, "Here's your change!" That was the closest they got to getting his "in-battle" dialog right!

I saw Michael Angarano at Universal Studios Calif. He looks alot different in person but I didn't like run up to his face or nething, as much as I had liked to, he was with some friends it looked like and he seemed like a pretty normal guy, I kinda want Tobey to play peter, it just won't be the same I think without him.

I agree 100%!

People I think are afraid of change. They automatically think they will dislike it if there's a change like this. You hit it spot on with the story. The problem most people don't realize is McGuire and Dunst are now in the drivers seat (if the studio wants them back) as they were for part 2 and 3. "I'm not doing another one if I don't get to sing on screen." "I'm not doing another one if I don't get 'X' amount of screen time." "I'm not getting into shape like I was in the first two, so no body shots in the costume." The writers who come up with a story then need to do rewrites and include things that don't necessarily flow with the story. The Studio: "No, we have to have another villain and it has to be THIS one."

If they let Marvel dictate the story and have the creative influence, we'll see the best Spider-man movie yet regardless of who they choose to fill Peter and MJ's shoes.
